Angry Please Help!! 6230 Unlocked/no Signal!

Hi to all who've bothered to read this.
Bought a 6230 from a friend, locked to Orange......need to unlock to use T-mobile.
I've unlocked a few (older) phones in the past using an unlock CD i got on Ebay.....its great you can download it free here!!
Anyway after a few attempts my old program didn't do the job....so off to a local phone shop to have it done via cable.
"Ten quid, be a couple of minutes mate" great i thought.......seemed to be struggling & 20 minutes later it was done.
I put my T-Mobile sim init & it came up with all my numbers & full strength on the signal bars.....BUT THERE IS NO SIGNAL! (I can't make or receive calls.)
I should have checked in the shop, but i was in a real rush & having unlocked phones before, it seemed fine to me, as they usually unlock or they don't.
The problem i've got now is getting back to the shop, as i'm a delivery driver it might be a while till i get over there again.
I'm hoping this is something simple, 1 of you phone boffins can help me with??????
Oh the phone works fine on Orange & my sim works fine in my old phone.
    Any ideas!!??

    You bought a barred/blocked phone m8

This means that someone reported it stolen, lost or even a contract not paid.

So better go twist your friend's neck or use the phone on the networks on which it's not barred. but be aware that some UK networks share barring lists so it's possible that the police might show up at your place in the middle of the night

    cheers

    Cheers for that view!

Its not barred (i'm pretty sure) it will except an Orange sim (original) & it was bought from a friend , it was on contract & replaced with a new model (deffo not a stolen/dodgy phone).
With my own T-Mobile sim, it will send & recieve texts, wap, email etc.......but not send/receive calls.
I have phoned T-mobile customer services who were very helpfull & said its a strange problem as i know the phone & the sim to be working.
They did loads of tests, to no avail.
    Anyone else???

Could anyone tell me if its possible its been partially unlocked? a glitch?
Also could it have anything to do with me inputting the wrong codes (5 times) then gettin it done via wire......could i know try the code calc again?

sending/receiving text and not doing the same for calls is another indication of a barred phone but if you're so sure...

why don't you try an UK service which allows to know if the IMEI is blacklisted? Some uk friends told me it's an automatic answering service but don't know the number or if it's specific to a provider.
