Nokia 6630 dead, will not power on

Hi,

Soon i will start work on a dead 6630 for the first time. Anything i should know or suggestions on going about fixing it.

well... if its liquid damaged, clean it up, if you get it powering up after that then thank your lucky stars because if not then you cant flash it... BB5 handsets cant be flashed from Dead as far as i know... oh except by a Level 3 Nokia Service Centre...

anyone got anything to add??

I have cleaned it .... and now i am getting a beep when i plug is a charger

what can i do now... i have tried cleaning it up more but still beep when charger is plugged in ... oh and by the way it was liquid damaged since the metal inside was all brown

ok good, there is no reason now why the phone shouldnt power up unless the Power Switch is damaged or the Power On Line is damaged... please try shorting across the switch pins 1 & 3 to try to get it to power on... and post results

do you mean short the soldered parts on both sides of the power on switch?

yeah... sorry i cant remember if its a 2 pin switch or a 4 pin switch... if its 2 pin then use a pair of tweezers or similar to short it out and see if it will power the phone on...

that is strange, usually if the phone charges it will power up... make sure you hold the tweezers on the switch for a few seconds and not just quickly shorting it out... after this i am at a loss... i have never worked on a 6630 yet!!!

yes i did place the tweezer for a bit longer to make the phone start up but still no good. I check the screen it is working fine on another phone. having a chat with another person he said it will start up if when you put it on charge, it beeps, shows the nokia sign on the screen and then the charging bars..... but in my case the phone beeps but no display ??? the screen is fine i checked .... is he right?

yeah thats normal for it to show Nokia then the charging bars... hmmm... flash it... maybe its just software... am getting bored of this phone!!! hehe
