Phone locked in headset/headphone mode

Hi,

My 3589i was hit by a water balloon and since then it's been locked on headphone/headset mode, even though I don't own and have never used a headset. There's a small headset symbol in the center of the display and it won't disappear. I've tried everything I can think of--drying the phone, resetting it, reactivating the factory settings. I can hear and speak through a headset (I tried one at the Verizon store to make sure that was the problem), but I can't use the phone in standard mode.

Does anyone have any tips? The Verizon customer service and tech people are at a loss.

you seem to be aware that the water baloon is the problem here... and your right... you need to open your phone up and clean the system connector inside the phone, it has been damaged by water and is shorting out some of the pins there... use alcohol and a toothbrush... this is a very common problem...
