Thread: all about hex

  1. #1
I made this new topic expecially for hex/dejan subject coz all these topics are starting to get confusing!!! OK, some geeza posted this on the gsmcity forum. I don't know if this works as I don't have access to my pcb yet, so if anyone can try it and let us all know. THX

This hex file is too small for 16ce625. I think that it will NOT work!

    no, it does NOT work!
and we will surely never get the hex out of those pics, because they're locked against back-reading...
to remember: DEJAN himself is working on solutions how to crack read-protected pics...

I once read an article on how to read the code from protected pic chips... but it's VERY difficult. The rough story is something about physically opening the chip and blow the read-protect fuse with some very high tech IC "tools". By "opening" I mean etching the plastic cover away with some special acids to get to the die.
When the fuse is blown, you'll be able to read the code in a normal PIC reader/writer.

I don't remember where I read it, but I know I found it on the net, while looking for some satellite tv decryption stuff, so it's out there. Now all we need is a couple of PIC samples, and a person with access to high tech IC manufacturing tools - like on a university or whatever.
