Nokia 3360 "NO SERVICE"

My 3360 problems started with the intermittent "no service" messages that would last for hours or days, and then suddenly the phone would work again. Sometimes after completing a call and pressing end, the phone would go to "no service" instead of "AT&T". Now it is stuck on "no service" all the time.

In another post someone suggested heating the power IC or all of the RF circuit ICs. (I presume this is to fix bad solder joints.) Is this a good idea? If it is, I would appreciate detailed instructions. If not, what do you suggest (other than getting a new phone)?

This is uncanny. I am having the exact problem with my Nokia 3360, and it started about a week ago. The same time your problem started. Anybody know how to fix it? Thanks, NFO

It's not so uncanny. My phone was intermittent for months and continuously "no service" since April 28. I searched the web and found other incidents of the same problem, but no good clear advice on how to try to fix.

Took my phone to a local Cingular shop. The service tech just replaced the antenna (with a spare from his used parts bin) and cleaned the contacts. He said torking the antenna screws to the proper specs is required for success. Works fine. My lucky day, he did it for free. NFO
