N78, Sim card registration failed

hi there, i have recently been offered a great deal for a Nokia N78 from ebay...everything on the phone works
the only problem is when a sim card is inserted the message 'Sim card registration failed' is displayed
can this be fixed? would you say it is worth buying this phone if i can get it under £50? and try to fix the problem myself

It means the sim has been disabled. If it is postpaid then the
service has either been suspended or cancelled. If it is prepaid it's
generally because the prepaid service has had no credit on it for 6
months and is therefore cancelled and cannot be re-connected.

i have the same problem. i have a nokia 8800e and i was told its unlocked but i put my o2 chop in and it says sim restricted!!
i put another o2 sim in and the same thing.
