    Hello..
    i dont know the difference about 3315 & 3390.
U can upgrade ur 3210 like editing/modifying the the 3210fls file.
U can change the ringtones, graphic menu, adding sldeshow..

Also about upgrading 3310/3315 to another unit. It will something to do with hardware also like( flash ic, memory chips etc). Not just software..

    @blueLED

    Well, let's see:

    1. Nokias 3310/15 operate on GSM 900 and GSM 1800 MHz networks. The actual 3315 model is only available in Asia but you can upgrade a 3310 with 3315 firmware as they're basically the same hardware.

The 3390 operates on GSM 1900 MHz, which is the GSM frequency used in the American continent (except in Brasil). 3390s have different software AND hardware and are not compatible with 3310/15 in any way (well, except the xpress-on covers).

    2. It's impossible to upgrade a 3310/15 to 3390 and vice-versa. They're different in hardware (RF circuitry is different) and software, and they operate on different types of network.

    3. 3320 is a dual-mode TDMA IS-136/Analog phone, similar to the 3310/15 but with different features (since it's an IS-136 and not a GSM phone). It operates on digital IS-136 and analog AMPS networks; it's also NOT compatible with any GSM operator. You'll only find 3320s in North and South America and in New Zealand.

As a rule, Nokia names its phones after the 'series' they belong to and after the type of network they operate on. So you get the 3300 (33XX) series, the 8200 series, the 5100 etc. The last two digits in the model number designate the type of network and some upgrade the model might have had.

For example, "20" (or "25") always designates IS-136 800MHz phones (5120, 3320 etc). An upgraded 5120 sold in Brasil was the 5125. THere are also 8260 and 8265 models.

    "10", "30" and "50" are for GSM 900/1800: 3310, or its upgraded version the 3315; 3330; 3510 etc.

    "60" is for IS-136 dual-band 800MHz and 1900MHz: 3360, 5160, 5165.

    "70" is for CDMA 1900 MHz: 5170, 3570.

    "80" and "85" are for CDMA 800/analog and analog/CDMA800/CDMA1900: 3585.

    Finally, "90" and "95" for GSM 1900 MHz: 3390, 5190 etc.

    4. There's no such thing as a Nokia 3220, and if there was, it'd be an IS-136 phone and so it wouldn't be compatible in any way with the 3210.

    5. You can update the 3210's firmware with newer versions, but not to another model.

    6. I don't know!

Sorry for the long post, and I hope this helps!

    Cheers,

3320 and 3360 are the exact same phone except that the 3360 will also work on IS-136 1900 MHz. The 3320 only works at 800 MHz.

    hmmm

is it then possible to upgrade 3310/30 to 3360/20???

    Absolutely not!

As I said, they're different phones for different network types.

Totally different hardware and software - not even the xpress-on BACKplates are compatible!

Forget it. Besides, if you're outside America (I mean the continent) the only other place where a TDMA IS-136 phone would work is New Zealand.

    Cheers,
