Newbie with questions

Hi guys... really embarrasing to ask these questions, but what the heck...

I've got an 8250 with firmware version 3.18. What's the latest I can get for this? Someone told me that there are different versions of firmwares as well... Is is correct?

What do the new firmwares do? I've been a Siemens user, and what their firmware does, I know, but Nokia, blank.

Can I do upgrades via infrared? Probably not huh...

1) I have no idea, try searching on google

2) The newer the firmware the smoother the phone (usually) this means it crashes/freezes less and can usually scroll through menus quicker

3)No you cant flash using infra red unless you have a special cable thingy which are pretty expensive
