You don't need to download any software. Just use this site's online calc

    Exclamation

If you use up all your code attempts without success, does it turn your phone into a brick until you bring it to a Pro, or can you still use it with the original carrier?

I have a Fido locked Nokia 8801. Fido was bought out by Rogers, but it is a Fido locked phone (it does not accept a Rogers SIM)...but I read here that one should be using the Rogers MCC+MNC (counter-intuitively) to calculate the unlock codes.

Here's my dilemma: I bought unlock codes from a UK unlocking site...I used Fido in the "original carrier" field and they sent 2 codes, #1 and #7

Then I read here that I should use ROGERS instead of Fido for a Nokia 8801 and I used that to get NEW codes with the unlocking software here....

The two sets of codes (numbers #1 and #7) are identical except for the 4th digit in each set of codes.

I have not punched any of these codes into the phone yet, but I did punch in one (failed) attempt earlier, so I have used up at least one try.

Should I input the ones I bought (original carrier Fido) or the ones I calculated here (original carrier Rogers)...
I have read that with the Nokia 8801, you only get 3 tries (not 5)...so I am afraid to input the wrong ones....

Just to follow up for Fido Nokia 8801 users:

    This excellent company

    http://www.unlox.co.uk/

already takes the Rogers takeover into account and their unlock codes work perfectly.

OK if your in a tight patch and you dont wanna mess the phone up it maybe good to PAY A THIRD PARTY

However most of the third parties stay upto date by reading and participating in free forums like Nfree!

So i'd just unlocked my 6030 from FIDO successfully by reading through
other threads!! and my 8801 is on its way!! so i'd just want to conclude my understanding here!!

    input IMEI
    Canada
    Rogers AT&T

    MCC+MNC 30272000
    ASIC 6
and which one should i choose here?? ONE?? Original?? or Asic6???

Anyone actually tried it on their 8801?? i tried ONE with my 6030 and it works perfectly!!

    How I unlocked 8801 - Fido

    I used this calculator:
    http://unlock.nokiafree.org/

    Network : Canada - Rogers
    Gen: Original
    Nokia model: ASIC6

    click: DC4T Unlock Codes:
    entered +1 code
    the 8801 will reboot.
    entered +2 code

    voila!

I placed a ROGERS sim card to verify - it works.

Will these unlock settings work for the T-Mobile USA Version?

  12. #52
Yes This will work With USA t_mobile.

The only difference is that you'll have to change your Network settings to USA-T-Mobile. You may also want to change your GEN to T-mobile. It's Not Required but sometimes T-mobile are shifty.

The Fido Error is very common, especially with new Fido Phones.
    Rather then running off the FIDO network code, they use their ROGERS network code;
Keep in mind Rogers owns Fido.

    Hello,

What seems to work for T-Mobile has been Asic6, Original, Code 1 with a T-Mobile sim card inserted while entering the unlock code. However, 10% of the time while unlocked T-Mobile 8801's it says "Cannot undo restriction", would there be any reason for this besides human error?
