Hi,
I just recieved my new 7650 this morning and am having fun with the camera and waiting for my bluetooth adaptor to arrive so i can upload some apps to it,
But i noticed that everytime someone rings me, the whole phone locks up, no buttons work, if the backlight is on it stays on and the only thing that kicks it back into life is removing and reinserting the battery,
It is running 3.16 firmware, on UK orange network, brand new, nothing installed on it yet, i reset it back to factory defaults, tried different ring tones, no ring tones, different profiles and it still locks up every time someone rings it, the screen flickers once as the call comes in, it doesnt ring at all, but the person ringing me hears it ringing and it just goes through to my orange answering service,
HAs anyone ever come across this problem before?, any advice on what to do?, i phoned orange customer services and they just said send it back, i waited long enough for this one and dont want to loose my phone for a week again!!
HELP!!!

just send it back, maybe there is a bug on the firmware that is very rare... in your case, its better to be sure so send your unit back

I think i knew i was going to have to send it back really, its just that i didnt want to be without my phone!! (sad isnt it!!), It will be back at my dealers tomorrow morning and they will get a new one out to me for a saturday delivery,
My wife liked it so much that she has just cancelled her SL45 contract and is getting one on saturday as well now!!

Thanks mole,
Its looking unlikely i will be keeping the 7650 now because my wifes 7650 just turned up and is doing exactly the same as mine did!!, when a call is recieved it just locks up and the battery has to be removed for it to work again,
My replacement arrives on monday morning and it is looking likely that it will do exactly the same,
I have spent about half an hour on the phone to orange customer care trying to get it sorted out and the same to my supplying dealer who cant figure out what is wrong either, The strange thing that neither of them can work out is that when the phones arrived there was no transit lock on them, i powered them up and made a call to a friend straight away, my dealer and orange said i shouldnt have been able to do this on a transit locked phone
Anyone know of another decent phone that has a large colour screen, camera, notepad, and a decent contacs database that i can try??, i've been told that theres one called a t100 or a gx10 that might be ok, but cant find them anywhere?, Oh yeah, I would also like a memory upgrade slot too on my phone
sonyericsson p800 is came out in these days (Italy) ...i don't know in UK. try to look 4 it.
Btw...it's very strange what is happened to ur jewel (7650 :D ). never heard about something like this.

P800 looks very nice and i would jump at the chance of getting one, but have been told it will likely be around £400 on contract for the first 3-4 months when its released in febuary next year on Orange  ,
My old mobile has died and i am without a phone and cant wait that long!, i have just cancelled my contract on O2 and am about to sign up for another one on either O2 or orange depending what i can get
yeah it looks very nice :D but have u ever thought about using the phone with 2 hands ??? IMPOSSIBLE!!

I've had PDA's with stylus input touch sensitive screens for ages so i'm used to that really!!,
Now that i have done some research and heard what everyone has said about the 7650, i dont think its the phone for me, 4meg memory is very limiting and there doesnt appear to be a way of upgrading it at all, i dont like the new 3410 (or whatever its called) that does have a memory card slot, it looks like a kids toy!!, why on earth they couldnt put a memory slot on the 7650 is beyend me!!, It seems like a really strange move from Nokia, I've used Nokia phones for the last 6 years but its very unlikely my next phone will be a Nokia because they dont seem to have a phone with the features i want (like the P800 has)
Still not sure wat to get though, and sorry if i shouldnt be discussing this in here, but i cant find any general mobile phone forums on the web for some strange reason!!

if your looking for a stylus type of phone, built in camera, colored big screen, good design, i think your looking for this one...

did u initial charge your fone when you got it on the first day???
you should drain the battery first (usually come with factory charge) then charge it overnyt (about 14 hours maximum, 12 hours minimum) on the second and third day drain it first before charging it (if you have a fast charger it takes about 1 1/5 hours of charging to be full charge)

Unfortunatly the P800 isnt available over here (UK) until febuary :( , and even then its going to be way too expensive at £400 with a contract,
I am seriously considering an O2 XDA at the moment, seriously loaded with all the features i want and i can get it for £104 if i trade in my old 8210 or £150 on its own, seems like a good deal to me!

Strange thing now is that my wifes new 7650 has mysteriously started working properly!, we were waiting for the text message to come in that auto updates the phone apparently from orange and it still hasnt arrive even though they said it would be with us in the next ten minutes and sent it twice,
We were told to open the messages and they would contain garbled nonsense then delete them,
Now she likes it and we might just keep them now anyway!!, doh!, I hope someone does come up with a way of upgrading the memory though cos i have already collected over 33meg of things to install on my phone :(
no way to upgrade the memory...unfortunately.
the only thing u can do is buy Space Doubler (now is 1.1) : essential tool;)

not even if you unsoldered the BGA memory chip, read all the data out, programmed it all into a new, bigger BGA chip and then resoldered it back in??,
It depends on availability of spare data lines and whether the OS would actually see the new memory doesnt it?

Wouldnt space doubler slow the phone down if it has to compress and decompress the data on the fly??

There's a BGA rework company just round the corner from where i live, might have a chat with them to see if they have any idea whether its possible, they use an X-ray machine to check the soldering quality on reworked BGA devices!, i also know of a company that can program BGA devices too, so i'm thinking that i might get the original chip unsoldered, get them to read out all the data, program it all back into a bigger chip then resolder the bigger chip back into the board, if all goes well i should have more memory, if it doesnt, worst case is that i have to get the original chip put back again
What does anyone think of this?
no..no...but it depends on what are u compressing. 4 ex. if u r compressibg Geopod(1.240Kb) it takes 20 seconds..to compress/uncompress.
Try it...it's on www.psiloc.com ;)
