Hey guys!
I need your opinions.
I recently bought a Nokia 7650 and I'm installing and sending stuff through an old laptop with infrared.
It's not fast (read: SLOW!) but it works.
Didn't want to buy a bluetooth adaptor because I though they were f*ck*ng expensive.
Now I found a MSI bluetooth adaptor for €39
Now my question is do you have experience with this adaptor?
Does is works perfect with the Nokia 7650?
Is it just as easy as infrared? I mean with infrared I can do right click on a file and copy to infrared. When I have that adaptor can I do the same?
Specs:
MS-6967 (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/per/per/pro_per_detail.php?UID=326&MODEL=MS-6967)
For the Dutch dudes in here that also want to buy a Bluetooth adaptor here is the link for the one of 39 Euro! (http://silverapp1.mycom.nl/MyCom/Store/productdetailedinfo.do?productID=35060&productType=1)

Hello Panja,
The MSI Bluetooth is good. Am using the MSI USB Bluetooth transceiver and works well. Since it is USB, data transfer is very fast.
I highly recommend for u to use the Bluetooth, not only it transfers data fast, u can communicate with ur phone within the 10 m range (multipoint) not unlike infrared which uses line of sight communication at limited distance.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I think I'll order one this week!!
:-)
One more question....
What's the difference between the one above and this one? (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/per/per/pro_per_detail.php?UID=325&MODEL=MS-6968)

The MS-6967, which I am using now is a transceiver key.
The MS-6968 is a transceiving module mostly use in a local area network for pc to pc wireless networking.
U dont have to buy both...

The MSI site says it has an operating range up to 200m. So is it possible to connect with the 7650 from a distance up to 200m ?

I use a Bt dongle adapter and it's very simple to use and very fast.
The only problem (I hope only of mine) is that I cannot send any file via BT to the PC, only the contrary.
Mah! Anyway, in that case I'll use the infrared adapter instead. :D
Buy it!

I think the 200 meters distance is if u use it point to point with no obstructions. The recommended is 10 meters if multipoint for best communication

Hey Schizo!
I don't think you friend configured the BT Dongle right.
Because it's working perfect for me now.
I have a MSI 6967.
Just check the site I gave in an earlier post (check above) that will solve the problem that the BT gives when connecting.
I got the error can't connect to Com0 (or something like that).
The only thing that's not working for me at the moment is sending files from my 7650 to my pc.
But tiger42 has the solution I guess...
Need to check that one out tonight!
Panja,
Which operating system are you using ? i bought the same one at Mycom, but though I can upload to the phone using bluetooth, I can not connect with the nokia pc-suite, or upload to the pc.
Strawling the net I found some more remarks regarding the MSI Dongle w/ XP Pro, so just want to check your OS, before creating a dual-boot...

Hello scizo,
Am using the MSI bluetooth but the concept should be the same.
First, ur phone and pc are both transceiver device and they can exchange data.
To transfer images from ur phone to pc, u can use the pc suite program. Alternatively, u can transfer files to ur pc by the "send to bluetooth" option, provided that the pc suite program is not running because only one program can use the BT channel at a time. On the other hand, u can transfer files from ur pc to phone by copying and pasting files using the windows explorer under the bluetooth neighborhood.
One drawback of the pc suite is limited function, u can only transfer images and do synchronization, it cannot transfer other files like ringtone, messages etc.
Us the PC suite program to install applications to ur phone.
U dont need to download third party softwares, provided ur USB driver is already installed, otherwise u need to install it before installing ur Bluetooth.

Hello schizo,
U need to make a Bluetooth Serial Port connection betwwen ur phone and pc. U need to switch ON ur phone to BT during this process so ur pc can detect ur phone. Just follow the instructions on ur screen to complete the process.
Check also the mRouter icon located on ur system tray, double click and check the port being used by ur phone. If ur not sure of the port, just check all the ports that is currently not being use by other devices.
What OS ur using?
advise concerns,

If you installed the billionton drivers from the CD, you might not be able to transfer from phone to pc. You will have to remove the drivers, install the drivers at the following link, then follow the instructions at the other link to make it possible to transfer from phone to pc:
Driver:
http://www.tecomproduct.com/asp/download.asp?id=167
Instructions:
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3075&highlight=billionton
Before you do a serial connection, make sure you pair the phone and PC. To do that:
1. Turn bluetooth on from your phone.
2. On your taskbar there should be a Bluetooth icon. Right click on it, Setup > Security
3. It should search and find your phone. Once found, select it and click Execute Pairing. It will ask you to enter a password (numbers) and then will ask to do the same on phone. Pairing complete.
4. Go to the phone's bluetooth menu, move the joystick to the right, you will find the paired device, Option > Set as authorised.
To initiate a serial connection between the pc and phone:
1. Turn bluetooth on from your phone.
2. On your taskbar there should be a Bluetooth icon. Right click, Services > Connection Wizard.
3. "Select a service" should be Bluetooth Serial Port, remove check from "Require secure...", click next, then finish.
4. Double click on the bluetooth icon on the taskbar, you should see the Serial Connection you created. Double click on it. Although it might say "The Bluetooth Serial Port connection failed. The remote device close the connection" the serial connection has worked.
5. Now you can use PC Suite.
If you want to transfer from phone to pc, you have to cancel the serial connection first simply by turning bluetooth off then on from the phone.

ey thankx
im downloading it now.
Hey pier!
I'm also using Windows XP Pro.

Yups, if it ain't Dutch, it ain't much :D
Did you get the PC Suite working ? I can't seem to get it to connect, though the MSI-bluetooth driver is working (as I can upload .sis-files etc. to the phone). Tried the fix you mentioned some time ago, but still got the 'Com 0'-message.
mRouter doesn't detect that com-port.
Well, gonna try the other options mentioned in this thread later today.

First of all, i want to thank you for everything. I have a problem though, i followed all the instruction here and on the link but i still cant use the pc suite. I can send files from my phone to my pc and vice versa. But when i opened pc suite, it just says "this is the first time you have used pc suite. Please attach your nokia 7650 to the pc and press ok to continue, or press close to exit pc suite.". Everytime i press the ok button, nothing happens. What could be wrong here? And another thing, on the connection properties of mRouter. Everything is not connected. What port should i use? How do i connect that?

Do you see Bluetooth in the list of mrouter connections ? If it's there, select all of the Bluetooth connections, all the COM ports. If there is no Bluetooth listed, then there is another fix to this. You will need to disable your modem. I hope you are not using it, I mean the standard dialup modem. Go to Device Manager in System in Control Panels, right click on the modem and Disable. The Bluetooth connection should now be listed in mrouter.
After you have selected the Bluetooth connections in mrouter, you need to initiate the Serial connection using the method I explained in my previous post. Once that is done, you should be able to use PC Suite.

i checked all the com ports with bluetooth exept for com4 and com7. it gives me an error that the port cannot be enabled. it may be in use by another application.
then once again when i opened pc suite, same error...
and the mrouter is still disconnected...

Would downloading the latest pc suite help me? I mean, is it the solution?

In that case, right click on the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar, Setup > Configuration. Click on Local Services tab. The last item in the list should be the Bluetooth Serial Port. Double click on it and change the port to one that is available. Also try restarting then try selecting those ports that told you are not available. After doing that, initiate Serial connection using instructions I gave you before.

Hi, I can't transfer any files from the phone to the PC, I have read the other post of the Regedit, and in the Regedit I only have Notes, Calenda and something else but I haven't "AcceptOther" so I have created it, but I still have problem. When I try to send something to the PC, the phones says me that there is a problem. Any solution please? I only can transfer (without PC suite) from PC to 7650.
Thanks.

You MUST use the latest driver version! If "AcceptOther" was not already there, your driver is too old and it will not work. Download the latest driver from MSI (http://download.msi.com.tw/support/dvr_exe/bt45.exe).
