Just wanted to know if anybody from Malaysia who has the 7650 firmware revision 4.XX? Currently mine is just 3.16

Hi My Fellow Malaysians...

There are 4 types of 7650.
1) Zitron
2) O Connor
3) AP (approved permit)
4) From Singapore.

1) It is more expensive to get from Zitron as they charge more in the fon price to cover the services. The warranty is International, so you can upgrade it in any Nokia outlet or even in S'pore Nokia.

2) Warranty is only valid in M'sia & upgrade can only be done thru them where they will send it to Nokia for a fee.

3) Warranty is in M'sia & by those company that has less technical expetise. No way of upgrading your fon unless you pay to a Nokia direct.

4) Check whether the warranty is INT or just S'pore. If it is INT, it can be upgraded in Nokia M'sia or else you have to goto S'pore to get it upgraded.

My info is just for ref. Don't get mad if it is not accurate.

I did my upgrade at the Nokia Service Centre in Pg. Damn expensive as they charge me RM50 for a lousy upgrade (O connor's punya pasal). Didn't complain much though as the new revision seems to be much more stable. :D :D :D :D

I got a good friend who owns a handphone shop. Although he's very highly technical, he shares his knowledge with me. I of course will advice him on software & stuff like that. A good trade isn't it. And as for the 7650 sw, I'm using it only for myself & not for any business purposes. (take note Schiz0)

You'll be surprise that many over here are reluctant to get this fon b'coz they dun know how to operate it. It's confusing for them but NOT for us that are on this forum.

Sorry...man! I'm from the south. If you wan 2 find out Nokia in JB side I can find out for you. Kay-Eyl - I dunno, larrrr!

As for MMS, it's oredi in trials. U can use it now. Maxis will be rolling out by early march & digi / celcom by late feb. U have to enable your GPRS where a monthly fee of RM5 will be charge (if u r with maxis). Then the data will be charge accordingly. ALSO, u gotta enabled data call & wap. So all in all is another RM10 - 15 added into the bill.
(this time dun say I work for maxis...lar. It is just that I've ask them when I was paying my bills)

I think MMS will be quite costly. As for me, I'm currectly enable my data call (RM5 monthly) & send my pics via e-mail.

as far as i know, there is no international warranty for nokia mobile phone.
the charge for reflash s/w is normally rm60, but now we hav promotion 50% discount.

as long as ur nokia mobile phone is shipping to Malaysia, in record of nokia warranty database, we do it FOC.

U can email ur imei to me, i can check for u.
for those AP set, if any thing goes wrong, dun send in, coz we will give a quotation of system module rm1400.

yes, u can buy from singapore, u can get warranty cover by Accord CCS's Nokia Authorized Service Center, coz Accord also nokia service center at singpore, so they can do a warranty claim to nokia also

2. OConner Set
OConner no longer is an authorized distributor and service center anymore. all the repair equipment rely on China, and repair s/w rely on NFREE also, but now OConner already outsource their service center to other company, the expert inside already having their own service center, ofcoz they do AP.

3. AP
they is 2 type of AP
1st type of AP is their import the NMP from other country to Malaysia, like Oconner, Topcall. If u buy their phone, OConner warranty u, not Nokia Malaysia.
2nd type of AP is they buy the NMP from Zitron, the phone only hav their own stiker, no zitron stiker, but zitron cover the warranty for them. Eg are World of Phone, Takacom, Extra Business...Zitron have an AP Service Center at Belakong. Now we also have 3315 in blue LED, only Nokia Malaysia allow then do so. i dun know other country of Nokia allow or not

4. Zitron is an authorized Distributor and service center. the price different with AP not much, around rm 50 to 100, but u can get a better service. we have nokia care line to care for u phone. we will change a new system module if the technician can't repair. Those AP can't do so.

Interesting to know that there is no such thing as an INT warranty. Gotta check with my friends from S'pore. They claimed that in S'pore most fons have this warranty+certificate. Any firmware update or repairs can be done in any Nokia Office & that incs M'sia.

If I purchase a phone from Nokia S'pore, can I upgrade it here (nokia M'sia) ?

1. u can upgrade at Zitron service center with rm60 of labour charge
2. go to cyberjaya nokia office, request them to do it for u, i dun know it works or not
3. ask ur friend at singapore Nokia give an acknodgement to the nokia malaysia saying that his friend at malaysia having a singapore set want 2 hav a free upgrade.

authorized service center only do it for u unless by order of nokia malaysia. so if u know berry lee, nokia GM, ofcoz we hav to do so and nokia will pay to us.

ya, is posible, chinese version we only flash MCU.
u have both chinese and english input, can read chinese sms.
BUT, THIS IS NOT REVERSIBLE.
MEANS THAT NOW U USE UK MCU, I REFLASH TO CHINA MCU(4.34), U CAN'T REQUEST TO USE BACK OR REFLASH BACK TO UK MCU, COZ CURRENT WE FOUND ERROR AFTER REFLASH BACK TO ORIGINAL MCU. SO THIS I ONE WAY.

my 7650 is under version 4.39. the set is from zitron.
If LOW YAT say they only got version 3 , maybe u can bring ur phone to BERJAYA PLAZA which is in jalan imbi. There is a nokia service center there. As far as i know, if u bring handset not under zitron warranty , they will charge u. Good luck.

After all for chinese sw,it's just not like what terry say that u just flash the MCU but it's just that the MCU n ppm r combine together in 1 file. :P

ya, i also can't believe it is true, but i have to accept the fact, i think i have much more chances to reflash 7650 then others coz we really do like product flashing in factory. the more u try out the more u will understand.

there is no different between water set and non-authorized set, same charges, only 1 thing, if the flashing process is not complete, there is no warranty given. MEANS, IF FLASHING PROCESS FAILED, AND UR 7650 BECOME CAN'T ON, U BARE ON IT, SERVICE CENTER WILL GIVE U WARRANTY UNLESS THE 7650 IS SUCCESSFUL FLASH.

Sorry guys! Been really busy outside. Still on CNY holidays so no mood to touch anything...larrr.

To Alfonso,
It is better to purchase an official set. If you buy a water set, it is better not to upgrade. There are lots of risk involved & quite costly too. The phone price is indeed cheaper too.

There are many dealers out here (Batu Pahat, JB, Kluang & Muar) that does their own upgrade. It's the equipment that is req. Nowadays upgrading a 3310 to a 3315 cost only RM10. It's so easy but for a 7650 which runs on a symbian platform, I believe it will be more complex. Anything goes wrong, & that's it...end of story (just like terry says).

Will find out more from my hp dealer on any 'lubang' to do that & using the non-official way. If have info, will let you guys know. But whatever it is....YOU'LL HAVE TAKE A RISK!

Hi Alfonso,

The 1200 mAH batt exist but is compatible. There is no original. Price wise is cheap but lifespan, I'm not so sure. It can add maybe 1 more day to your S/By time.

The only concern on them are...if you get these batts, it is advisable for you to charge them externally. It's cheap & therefore no built in chip to control the temp. If you charge directly on phone, it may damaged your phone. Use compatible external charger should be OK.

Over here in JOHOR, price is about RM40 to RM60.

the 1200mAh battery works perfectly on 7650 .
the standby will last longer for 1-2 days.
i got the battery in kl. the price is less that rm 25.
of course the battery is not original from nokia.
hope the information will help u.

one more thing i notice the 1200mAh battery is a bit thinker , is harder to close the battery cap.

I had another ap set of 7650, there is some problem with the phone. When i try to on the phone, the display will show the NOKIA word and hangs. Does anyone have a idea how to fix it ?

before doing a hard reset, switch on d fon while holding d 'ABC' key for safe mode startup, it'll not load any apps at startup.

or last resort.... send it 2 13th Floor, Berjaya Plaza 4 upgrade...

Hi there! I need some help... My Pc suite on my laptop does not see the nokia 7650 anymore, when I go into Connection settings and select irda, it says it's connected, but inside the pc suite cannot find any device (disconnect).... Tried to reinstall pcsuite but get the same.... I can send files to the phone and to the pc from the phone via irda tho'.... Don't know where the problem is.... HELP PLEASE!!!!

Current OS : Win XP w/ SP1

there is a service point, the dealer collect the phone for me.
only u decide visit the dealer then i let u know via PM, price not nego!

Last week I went to NPC one utama to change my front cover, then I ask do u sell the keypad cover, coz my one got crack near the call and reject call button, then they said they don't have it.

Is it expensive Terry? the keypad cover I mean. Do we must order it first?

I changed my front cover at RM70, also just upgrad it to V4.39.
So now on NPC one utama do u think they got V4.46 already?
If yes, then I wanna go there to upgrade.

I heard that sony ericsson factory lost a lot of HBH60. I am using one and its nice. I bought it below rm 400. but 7650 cannot support bluetooth headset.

For example they sale original Nokia BLB-2 battery RM 140, while NPC RM180.
7650 pouch RM99, while NPC RM 128.
Dunno why u ask the cover more expensive than NPC.

I actually saw it there (Mongkok area...) but its quite expensive!!! RM2800... so i end up buying a 8910i (just for fun...) bcoz its only RM1400...

The 7650i is in metallic blue, 8MB memory and comes with 32MB MMC... i have few frenz there... when the price goes down (let say RM2000-RM2100) They will sure call me up definitely... anybody interested??? hehehe...

Anyway, i'm now in Malaysia for another couple of months... if u guys ever need anything do buzz me up!!! i have lotsa ORIGINAL 3650/7650 accessories with me... VERY GOOD PRICE!!!

Hi, last saturday, I just changed my keypad cover , its RM30. Yes I changed my front cover, its RM70.00. Every technical problem I had , I always look for Lim, maybe next time, when u pass by to NPC one utama, you directly look for Lim, his the technician.

Lim the technician only come after 2.00PM, so don't come to early, or u can call NPC first 03-77253306, but u must try a bit harder, coz they win't pick up the phone if they're busy.

Tomorrow i'm getting myself a P800...

I have few frenzs using this and the service centre at AMCORP MALL is kinda friendly... i already have a 9210i and 3650... and i have to say that the best would always be the 3650... i have tried my frenz p800 and theres nuthin to shout about but the phone actually got bright potential... the software list is building up... and its very "LANSI"to own it hehehhe...

p/s: the stupidest thing abt p800 is theres no videorecorder...
