7650 Owners Would You Move to 3650????

The 7650 is just fine for me, I do´nt need something I do´nt like enough. Besides, Nokia launches new models every once n´while so there is sure lots of nicer phones coming pretty soon...

Hi, my opinion:

3650: - keypad funny but "kiddie" and not usebility
- camera lens not saved
- lenght bigger as 7650 (closed mode)
- not prepered for the future, at few moths all better phones uses Symbian OS 7.

Therefore I am waiting for the 7650i, which combines the best of "both worlds".

BUT: Nokia dont give us a perfect phone, cause they want to sell at all times "nearly" best phones from the market.

I really want more memory in my 7650, if i cant upgrade the internal memory then i will be selling it and buying myself the P800, the 3650 is a kids toy, i would feel ashamed of my mobile (as the advert says!!) when i was out in public, my 5 month old son has a fisher price dummy phone that looks very similar to the 3650

Nokia seem to be handing customers over to sony ericcson on a plate with their lack of a suitable memory upgrade for the 7650, and i have emailed them and asked questions on their tech support forum and no one within Nokia is prepared to give any kind of information or support with the memory upgrade which annoys me even more :mad: :confused:

I am an adult, and one big reason of my apprehension in getting a 3650 is when I saw it up close and personal the other day I felt like the plastic used was the same as my tyco R/C boat looks flimsy and easily breakable (this is my opinion only). Although hardware wise it is superior to the 7650 but I guess I'll stick to my 7650 for the meantime and shop around some more.

Wish they made it not that too revolutionary looking, and that is my impression about it.

They wanted to make it unique, now it is truly unique because when you saw somebody holding it even a hundred feet away you'd surely know it's a 3650.

Sure wish Nokia would release an upgrade pack for the 7650, for me just a wireless bluetooth headset and even....even a 64MB memory would be more than enough of course 128/256 is a very very welcome thing.:cool:

In my opinion the 3650 is much better than the good "old" traditional looking 7650. With the larger memory and better design, I would much rather carry it around in my pocket than the bulky 7650. Just my opinion, but im sure many others as these phones are goin like crazy. Might just be the whole pre-release rush but its still good for the business. :)

Sorry, I cant understand this. Here a the measurements of both phones:

3650 = 130 x 57 x 26 mm, 139 cm³
7650 = 114 x 56 x 26 mm, 138 cm3

You can see, which model is smaller and can be carry more comfortable.

Majority of the people here voted "No, because it looks like a toy targeted for younger ones", which is funny, because I bet most of you are 13-17yrs old (sorry if I'm wrong).
Anyway, I'll be definetly moving to 3650 because of the memory, price and some other enchanced features (like better camera, bluetooth audio...). The looks ain't so bad, I've seen it in real life and it's much better looking than on the pics and the keypad is something I'll get used to after a couple of days.

Plz go to nokia's website and do a comparison between the two phones!The 3650 has: Video capture (Video recorder) and playback, memory card (MultiMediaCard) slot for expanded memory, JavaTM MIDP 1.0, Bluetooth, Modem via IR, XHTML Over GSM Data, HSCSD and GPRS, and weighs 24g less. Dont get me wrong I've used a 7650 before and fell in love with it the second I got my hands on it but the 3650 has many more features and does have a better, not so ordinary design. Their prices are nearly the same as well.

To doom. Sorry u r wrong. I'm 33. Maybe I'm a bit older than most of them here, but I do appreciate the gadgetry of the latest technology.

7650 is indeed bulky but it is not silly. It has the professional look & functions well enough. It is expandable & of course if a person knows how to operate a PC, then it can do wonders for you. The sad thing about the 7650 is the limited memory & audio bluetooth. Nothing ELSE!!

Now as for the 3650. Always remember....Nokia targets the 3xxx series to the young & fun loving teens. It has always been that way. That is why, 3210, 3310, 3350, 3610 & others are simple phones, bigger in size. very colorful & of course very loud. They are also cheap so that those young teenagers could afford them. The 3650 is no different. Althought it shares the same interface as the 7650, it still maintains the 3 series tradition. It is somewhat top end of the 3 series. If you are a working professional, holding a 3650 in your hands would show that you do not know how to choose a phone that suits your identity.

Enough said. Lets wait for the 7650i.

I was refering to the 3xxx series in general. 3650 is top of the line for 3xxx series & with it's operating system + memory + camera + other tech built it, it will definately be more expensive.
BUT do remember...that nowadays teenagers buying power & spending power is so much different. There are also rich teenagers who have rich parents & others that will find ways to get what ever they want.

My point is....the theme of a 3xxx series is meant for them.... so called teenagers.

Me as an adult (33 years of age) will not choose this model even it is cheap for me. I would rather go for a p800.

BUT since I'm an avit 7650 fan, I will wait patiently for the 7650i.

I BELIEVE...when Nokia released the 7650, they tried to target the professional market.

BUT they also realise that functions in the phone will be a better attraction to the teenagers market. Hey! Teenagers are the one that is closest to the latest tech. They practically invented it. Adults are less interested in this due to generation gap + slow absorbtion + cannot catch up + more stubborn & believes their old tech still works fine and therefore will not use most of the features. Just try to ask you 60 y.o. daddy to use the 7650 or 3650. I bet most daddys will not be able to understand the functions. Of course not all but some will (like me). I will try to catch technology even I'm 60 but will still lose to a 18 y.o. kid.

the keypad at first is a killa to use but when u get used to it is is infact extremely good to have the round design

here is a great example how the 3650 is under estimated by u 7650 owners

i know a person who commutes on the train to work every day it takes him an hr or so


he likes his news and would always watch his news while getting ready for work in a morning just getting bits and scraps of the news and always rushing

he now records the news throught the tvcard on his pc for an hour every morning 1 hr before he gets up
he then just converts the file using nmc2 which is doing while he get ready at a more leasurely pace and has time for a quick breakfast as he now watches his news on the train on his phone using his time sitting down on the train better.

result a happier more relaxed person in the morning

were also not looking at the future of the 3650. currently it is living off mainly out dated 7650 software when its hardware can handel so much more.

in the next few months i wouldnt be surprised if the quality of software doubles. esp with the relase of the blue tooth pen for the 3650/7650.

i wouldnt be suprised if a lto of new apps and games started coming out exclusivly for the 3650 due to its specs and abillity to store MUCH larger files.

I'd say they forgot to mention also exchangable covers in 3650 (who needs a case?), and that 3650 is 24g lighter than 7650!

Quite funny, I own a 7650 and I drive a Lancer, but it is a genuine Evolution model hahaha :)

Everybody I know thinks the 3650 looks unprofessional compared to the 7650. It's for this reason that I'll keep the 7650. I am not concerned about watching video's on my phone - I have a home theatre system for that! I can store enough games and apps on my 7650 to keep me occupied for hours on end if need be (and that is very seldom).

Having said that it would indeed be very nice to have more memory, but this is the only vice the 7650 has, and it's not enough to make me spend extra money and buy a 3650.

As I said before, if Nokia don't make plans to make a professional looking s60 device in the next 6 months, I will buy a Siemens X1 when it is released.

as for problems
i just read through the post and can say without a doupt the following
70% were inexperience and were resolved
20% were in compatible software which was corrected with upgrades
5% were dues to the fact that they were using warez software that had problems and then found other software warez that worked fine
5% other

some people must remember that the 3650 and 7650 are different phone and thus have to have the programs made for them
even though this is the case the vast majority of software for the older less featured 7650 phones still work so its backwards compatible which is great while we wait

you cannot convince people who are obviously logical thinking that a phone (7650) which can do less than a newer model phone (3650) is better than the newer (3650) just because it looks better.

a 7250 looks better than all our phones so does that make that better????

well in cases like yours i dont see thep oint in upgrading? you seem happy with the phone as it is. so theirs little point in asking you which is better simply because as you stated, your happy with whaty ou got and you dont want to pay extra for a improved version because you wouldnt use the improvments. in such cases the 7650 is easly the better phone!

however i my self do require the extras
i am often away on long trips out of town without a power outlet so the extra battery is a substantial advantage to me. (the car charger wont fit in my alfa)

for work, i spend a lot of time at auctions and somtimes i have upto 2 hours wait between items i am interested in and as i live a good hour away from the auction, a mobile entertainment center is invaluable !

i require the better camera as well for the above reasons so i can take photos of unfamilure damaged products and send them to colleages that are better suited to asses the damage. the 7650 camera wasnt so good in dark warehouses

the memory isnt jsut adventagus for movies though
the other day i had to urgently transport a graphic image from our design firms lap top whichs network card had died to the pritner. using the ir port, i was able to transport the 30mb file without a hitch and saved my company's face for a importent presentation the images were required for

as for the bugs, if you look though the forum history their are many more acounts of 7650 problems then 3650. its just that the 3650 is more recent so their are less pre writen help with problems which reduces the number of requests for help.

So once more 7650 is same than 3650 with less memory and MUCH nicer looks and feel so, since is a PHONE, and I don't need so many games, and progs (because I have a great HOMECINEMA DVD SYSTEM, DIGITAL CAMERAS, etc...), I TAKE 7650!!! (as well as I read that many of "you" 3650 USERS, have switched back to 7650 after having had 3650.....)

so i first took there argument against and said ok if they are the same phone then from the info the people against the 3650 have given me from there own opinions the 3650 would be better though they dont admit it

O.k. I am a 3650 owner, and very happy to be one at that. I bought the phone simply because of the features. A lot are similar to the 7650, but ofcourse that one lacks an MMC. And that is one of the features I bought it for.
Let's be hones with each other (like MrWolfman said) if de 7250 had the same capabilities as the 3650/7650 a lot of us would have but that one. You can say the 3650 is ugly, but the 7650 won't win any awards on looks either (btw, the 3650 is somewaht bigger, but the 7650 is heavier).
So when I had to buy a new phone, I knew I wasn't taking it for the looks but for the features. (It helps when you don't give a rat's ass what other people think about it :) ). And here in Holland the 3650 is cheaper than the 7650. So aside from the possibilities it saved me some money as well.
But ofcourse I understand if people wouldn't want to change phones when they don't need theextra memory (the main plus in my opinion). But saying it's that much uglier, I can't agree on.

BTW is it certain there will be a 7650i or do you think there will be one? Just curious :)

Been following this thread for a few days now and I have to say that there are some extremely passionate responses.

Technically, the 3650 is definitely the superior phone as far as specifications go. Doesn't matter what your preference is, the 3650 has the better camera, the ability to increase memory via MMC, audio bluetooth and a few other less significant features.

However, you all have to remember that the 3650 is a much newer phone and no matter what, the newer phone is always going to have the better features. The 3650 essentially builds on the 7650 feature set, fixes some issues (such as bluetooth audio) and then enhances them (such as the camera). Regardless of what anyone says, this is always going to happen.

The 3650 will suddenly become the "outdated" phone when the next x650 phone is released and we'll have this whole debate all over again.

Personally, I have a 7650. Had it on pre-order before they were even released here and picked it up the day it was available. The phone does everything I want it to and I'm happy with it. I will conceed that the lack of memory is an issue, however its a minor issue thats easily sorted. Over all, it doesn't bother me.

Would I upgrade to a 3650? Not really. The only compelling reason for me to upgrade is the memory and even that just doesn't justify it to me enough to do it.

Do I think the 3650 is a better phone? Yes. In the same way the 9210 and 9210i were better than the 9110. Newer phone = newer features = better specs.

Sorry guys, but the arguments are pointless. Its personal preference. The whole topic is purely subjective and a lot of people have missed that point in this discussion. Its not about looks, its not about features, its about what you want to do with your phone and which phone does that in a way that suits your needs.

there's no really better fone as for when all of us is concerned. we all have our own different tastes which individually sets our opinion for which the better fone is.

when i'm a 7650 owner, i say that i think that 7650 is the best and in the 1st place that is why i purchased it. and 7650 owners don't helluva care what a 3650 can do that the 7650 can't do. after all, 3650 and 7650 are cellular phones, and cellularphones are supposed to be mainly used for calling and texting.

now even if you 3650 users say that camera is better and you can play video or whatever like you're gonna depend on your 3650 to do all those things for you, 7650 users may not care because 7650 users may all buy a portable dvd player if it's watching movies they like and enjoy a thousand times better picture quality. as for the better camera, we all know that no celfone beats the picture quality of 4.0 megapixel digicam.

To call this phone a Kids/Youth phone, I don't know, I'm passed the magic 30 spot, (actually almost 35) and again it's different, but change is good right?

Two of my mates have the 7650, i loved the software but hate the way it looks, its like a big gray brick, you can't get new covers for it so after awhile its all scratched and looks even worse. Also you have't to keep sliding the keypad down all the time which gets very anoying if you use it alot.

So i went for the 3650, ya i know what you mean, it does look diffrent but its not ugerly and yes the keypad takes awhile to get used too, but it does have a blue LED keypad which looks great with a nice cover. I think its alot more upto date looking than the 7650 ever was.

My mates could't beleave it when i showed them the complete film of The Matrix on it, they are now upgrading to 3650's and getting 128m cards.

Anyway, just my thorghts. Be nice, i'm new :D ;)

Yes it's a big advantage but here covers for 3650 costs too much(because are just original nokia, no third part) about as a 7650 top cover replacement from nokia repair point (about 35/40€), so doesn't worth for me... I'll stay with my 7650 even because I got an Ipaq with 256MB compact flash, I have just to buy a bluetooth CF card

anyway,i'm 19 yo,and don't mind how the 3650 looks.i have the yellow one.about the plastic...it looks incredibly easy to break,but it a strong one!i have a 4minutes midi as sms alert,and a couple of days ago(sob,already...)i forgot the phone on my desk,approx at1,5m from ground.when i returned it was dissapeard:i found it UNDER the desk without a scratch with an sms recieved.

got out the car the other day pissed as a fart (i was not driving !!!)
by some mirricle the phone came out of my hand from hight and landed on the concrete petrol station floor
it scratch the white part a little(impact damage)

Well , i just got a 3650 a few days ago , and i'm satisfied with the fone , there where also 7650 , and to be honest i love both phones , the main feature that make me choose it was the memory , the designt ain't so bad , it's diferent , i think they wanted to make it futuristic, well the keypad i have to agreee we all where used to the nromal keypad's and changing to one of these takes some time to adapt, asfor the rest , both phones have lot's of aplications and games , so , the only thing more noticeable at least on first site it's the memory , and the X-press on Covers , that just give it a while and there will be clones form other companies lot and lot cheaper !!

As for the number of questions relative to the 3650 , has it was said , mos is due to a person no to be used to a "computer" phone , we have to say both are computers , i confess i hardly read the manual , but if i have a doubt ill readt it , and only if that doesn't solve my question ill aks for help , it better than doing something you will be sorry.

i had my 7650 for about a year when i decided to replace it with the 3650. here's why:

-the battery could hardly last a day. i had to buy a second battery so i can switch batteries.

-the slide got so loose that whenever i scroll down using the joystick, the phone would slide to the closed position- very annoying

-the front casing of the phone is easily scratched.

-it's very hard to type when the keypad section of the phone is lighter than the upper section. the designers at nokia probably didn't take up physics in high school

-very limited memory!

-looks more fragile than the 3650. what do you think will happen if you drop your 7650 with the keypad out?

the 3650 may look like a toy and the round keypad can be intimidating. but i got used to it. i don't care if people think i'm not a "professional" because of my phone. they're not gonna use it anyway. i don't buy a phone to flash it around. i buy a phone that has the best value for my money. what's the use of flashing around a phone whose battery can't even last a whole day and too big (with the keypad out)

Defenetly 3650 has mmany improvements relatively to 7650 , the major ones are the memory card , and the image quality !!

I got the 3650 , and till now i'm very pleased with it , althoug the batery only last's me for a day and half (is it me always anging on the phone :D ) , i got to get a stronger one.

As others mentioned, it's everybody's opinion, so might as well express mine.

Choosing a fone doesn't necessarily relies on one's personality but rather on what you basically need on a certain celfone. Why restrict yourself to get hold of a fone that basically suits what you want in a fone merely because it's from a "youth series"? I was a 7650 owner before and it's really a great fone, sleek design and of course with a lot of applications you can customize. But needs arises when it comes to space. I find it hard and awkward to delete some files when I needed newer ones to install, and then installing them again in the future if i needed them and then deletes something again. So when the 3650 arrives, I browse to its features and "voila!" a 7650 with an upgraded features. So I've switched. The keypad may be a bit awkward but all I have to say is that "learning is an acquired skill", so one can practice this skill thru time.

I'm not discouraging those 7650 owners coz i've been one before. But i'm here to shed light to those persons who are really misguided if they will switch from one fone to the other. All I can say is that in choosing a fone, ask what you really want in a fone. If you want a sleeker look and more of the vanity side rather than the new techy features, go for the 6xxx, 7xxx, 8xxx series. If what you need is features go for the 3650, its huge features(esp. MMC) outweighs some of its flaws.

So it's wrong say that owning a 3650 means that one doesn't know his/her personality. Let the person choose the fone he/she wants and what suits him/her, that's "personality". What is right or what suits John is maybe not right or suitable for James and vice versa. I'm a working professional in a production industry, 28 yrs. old, and an owner of a 3650, not ashamed of it, and it doesn't mean that I don't know my identity. It just shows that I really knew my identity coz' I needed a fone that has the features of a 7650 i've had before plus the space I needed for all those programs, applications and games.

So what are u waiting for? Want a 6610? 6100? 6800? 7650? 3650? It's ur choice, get the fone that reallly suits your needs.
