try type this at command prompt:

'converter wav2amr test_input.wav test_output.amr MR102'
w/o the quote. this is to convert from wav to amr.

then try to listen test_output.amr
dats d result of the conversion.

4 more info, try to search somewhere in dis thread, also about wav to amr...

Not correct number of arguments:
Input arguments are wav2amr Input.wav Output.amr MRxxx,
where xxx=475, 515, 59, 67, 74, 795, 102 or 122
The input needs to be a 16bit wav with 8kHz sampling frequency!!!

im not so gud in dis, try 2 get help from @Deadlock,
search for his profile & PM/email 2 him bout dis, he might help...

You can use sonic foundry soundforge or wavelab or any audio edition software which works with mp3...
Open the mp3 file and save it as wav (44100 Khz, 16 bit, stereo)...

An AMR is a MIDI based file, it doesn't work with audio files such as MP3 or wav...

What do you want to do ?
If you want to have personal ringtones, you just have to put your midifiles in your phone with an Irda or blue tooth connection

wats the benefit with converting the files to amr before putting them on the phone, will they become much smaller ? =/

if i want to have ex a mp3 file i just use the nokia app that i got with my 3650, when i send the mp3 file to the phone, it will convert to wav, and the size will still be reduced to about the half of what the original mp3 file was, tjen i just put it in the folder with my other ringtones and it works great

With the 7650 you can not use an audio file (mp3 or wave) as a ringtone...
You just can use Midi files as ringtones...
You can listen to your mp3 files with a small player and that's all.

With the 3650, I don't exactly know what you can do, it seems use audio files as ringtones

Like it was said earlier: PC Suite can convert mp3 to wav and automatically makes the file smaller. About half the normal size. If it doesn't automatically convert them, you haven't selected that option during installation. You need to reinstall PC Suite and select the option to convert media files (you can edit which files you want to convert later everytime you copy a file).

The benefit of AMR is that it makes MP3 about 10 (!) times smaller than the original size. I converted a MP3 last time and it converted from 3.6 MB tot 345 KB. Ofcourse the quality isn't as good as MP3 (BTW the quality also differs per file) but if you want to use it as a ringtone it's fine (for me anyway).

It works great. But the result varies. Personally I tried to convert Ignition from R Kelly and I got a totally new remix ;) But the other files were fine.

BTW, i am one of the users who successfully convert mp3 to wav & 16bit wav with 8Khz sampling frequency mono & finally to amr files but when i got the amr to my 7650,the music which i converted is more than 1 minute but it turned out t be maximum of 20 seconds only!Does anyone have the same problem?Anyone got longer than 20 secnds?If so, how did you do that?Thank you
