problem with modem via ir

when i connect my modem via ir it always display "connecting via infrared" and my laptop doesn't detect any modem at all.

when i activate my ir, my laptop detects modem over ir at port 5 but it can't connet thru internet because of hardware is not configure properly or modem error.

what will i do with this bullshit 7650 modem?:confused

You must first set up a dial-up connection from your laptop(Like your ISP dial-up).

Firstly make sure you activate the modem to "Connect via Infrared" with your laptop first.
If you are using XP, in your network places click "Create a new connection". Then click "connect to the internet". Click "set my connection manually". Click "Connect using dialup modem".
There will be a screen asking you to choose from a list of modems. If your 7650 is connected, you will see "Standard modem over IR link" in the list.
Enter the necessary settings.
After the finishing the setup, hit connect and your 7650 will show that the modem is connected !
