Firmware...? Upgrade

Hi people,
Just a casual question..
the Symbain operating system on the nokia 7650, well is it upgradeable..? I men like windows can you (or will there be in future) download updates or service packs or something.. Is there any difference between firmware and the symbian operating system version number...

i dont think so, u see, theres no CD-ROM drive for the 7650. hehe! just kidding. seriously, i dont think nokia will be doing that, it will defeat the purpose of marketing.:)

Of course your firmware can be flashed to a newer version. Newest firmware is 4.39 (I think) and old 3.16 has many bugs.
New firmware and software can be downloaded from here:

Hi, I am shure, cause the OS is burned in at the EEPROM, you cannot edit any of the firmware; you can only flash a new - complete - firmware. Not parts of it. All ore nothing.
Means, it must be collectit many small softare updates and if it is enough, you make as package a new firmware version.
