Yes - THATS NOKIA - gfx phones for the undemandingly youth
NOKIA - developing the half:

- no audio compatible bluetooth
- less memory of 3.6 MB
- no dust protected phone
- low power akku

NOKIA - we let test our unfinished firmware by our customers !

Well, I understand that a phone with additional features for
power users will rise the customer-price.

In my eyes the 7650 is related to the missing options
a half developed piece of shit.

Hi. Just to share some thought of mine.

Bluetooth was co-developed by Ericsson (now SE). I think Nokia was a bit unhappy about it as it always wants to dominate the celullar market (after all Nokia is No.1).

At that time when 7650 was developed n released, only Ericsson Bluetooth headset was available in the market. If Nokia released 7650 with Bluetooth audio enabled, all will purchased the Ericsson Bluetooth headset. So to protect that, they disabled this feature. AND now finally when they released one, they managed to enabled it for 3650. Interestingly is, the 3650 is only able to work with Nokia headset and not others like SE, motorola or bluespoon headset.

I guess, they are very protective about their market share.

Comments....anyone?

if that is the case then they should have our 7650 bluetooth audio enabled ..now that they have released their own bluetooth headset.

Doing so will take too much work. So, instead of enabling it on the 7650, they put it on the 3650. Assuming that most users will change to it.

BUT I rather stay with 7650 or wait for the so called 7650i than get the 3650 which is not on my favorite list at all.

If you really want to utilize the full function of a bluetooth headset, get a Sony Ericsson P800 instead. But again, it is NOT a Nokia, isn't it?

The Nokia 7650 uses Bluetooth V1.09. It has NOT audio capabilities. The V1.11 has. Nokia is a shitty brand. That doesn't test their phones as must as they should, however. The 7650 is not the worst phone. The 6510 is the worst.. only beaten by the 8310 in service frequency. It has only 3,5 megs of RAM. Not expandable,

Pros

Nice keyboard feature.
Innovating. The first of it's kind.
Large and clear display.
The camera as a "night" function.

Cons

Can't use bluetooth handsfree because of the stupid BT version
Don't have expandable memory like the 3650 and P800
Very low standbyrate.
Really pickish IR. It must be align very neatly.
Innovating. The first of it's kind.

Dunno if u can upgrade the BT version. But I meant I saw somewhere that the BT Chip isn't upgradable. Thus no BT handsfree. (Maybe they did this intentionally to get us to sell the 7650 and rather buy a 3650?

Hi, my opinion:

the bad fact is: the mistake from the Nokia developers costs ~ 80 $.

The good fact is: This "non-bluetooth-version" is not bigger than the really BT-version. The only differency is the short cable. Anyway.

Can anybody test this device at a local dealer with our phone and give us feedback?

Sorry, but Bluetooth has been around since the mid 90's... Well before development of the 7650 even began. Nokia has supported it in previous phones for quite a long time (look at the 6210i+BT pack).

Nokia have not stated why they didn't include BT Audio support in the 7650. But it definitely wasn't because of Ericsson or anything remotely close to that.

Damn shame that the 7650 has limited BT capabilities. Not being able to connect a BT headset doesn't bother me that much really.. It's the fact that there's no carkit for it that bothers me :[

For those that would like to use a non-BT headset: get a headset for a Nokia 8210, they're dirt cheap and work perfectly on the 7650 as well..
