Hi,

If I compress my image files using Stacker, the standard Series 60 Image Viewer doesn't open them.

Is there a way round this with Stacker, or is there a replacement Image viewing software that will compress and decompress images?

Thanks.

Hi, Straigthman,

normally you can use "Zipman" to compress separatly ALL files, photos too.

BUT: JPEG photos are compressed from itself, no prog can compress than more. Impossible. Forgot it and live with it. The sizes are not large.

Good point Sackgesicht!

On the other hand, I've got about 15 images on my 7650 that are each 25-30k in size, which I'd like to keep there as a portable album. I've just realised I don't need them at VGA resolution - I could save a lot of space by reducing them to 7650 screen res.

Is there a 7650 app that does this easily? (I've got Photoshop on my PC, but it would be easier on the 7650)

You welcome, Straightman.

But I forget: It is releaset a heritage of jpeg: jpeg2000.
This converting tool can work much better with a pretty better quality of the pics. Cause the artefacts are gone.

And this new tool woulth help us for our less space at phone.
BUT: You can only display *.jpg2000 pics with this tool at your machine. Means, you can build small pics at the computer and transfer to the phone, but I think they are not displaying. We want a "view tool" to display this format. But this need space, too.

Have a look to the next future.

true, you are not able to view .jp2 or .jpg2000 on any app currently on the series 60 platform (i don't know about the p800 - and quite really don't even care - but the situation is probably the same)

- even with photoshop you have to get an additional plugin (that costs around 200$) with which you can export to the jpeg2000 format. Yet the standard is not so much in full extend, you can't even see the files with acdsee5.

The only program that has really good native jpeg2000 import/export is corel graphics suite 11. If you use only that, then it's cool, but that doesn't solve the probs on the phone part -

@Straightman:
The easiest way would be for you to use the PC file manager, transfer the 15 files to a temp folder on the pc and do a batch process on them - i personally use Jasc Image Robot, but you might also use ACD Roboenhancer or Photoshop (actions on the whole dir)

Hope that helps,
