HI anyone of you out there.... :p
Is there any proggy whereby one's able to permanently, or rather at will, switch our 7650's backlight on and off?
Cos after all, i remember reading quite a number of threads mentioning that our fones' backlights are the real battery killers..
Even though i'm currently using a 1000 mAH battery & getting about 2 days of life each time, still wanna experiment (if there's such a proggy) how much longer can the batt last with the backlights off for at least half a day... :D

Hi, coolfiere,
for permanent light on you can use the prog: torch. But you to install it. Otherwise you combine a "must have prog" with this funkction. Means: Install FExporer, than you have an explorer with full funcitions AND two cool functions: Backlight permanont on and "Restart". This will restart (boot) your phone WITHOUT question about PIN code. This is very helpful if your phon are out of memory (only RAM-mem) or it hungs.
2th. point: No switch on the light? Sorry, I dont know. I think, Symbian has this funkction NOT included.
3th point: You want test the battery lifetime. The backlight use 90 mH. Make a ratio/relation to the battery capacity and you know, how long it will be work with permanent light on.

this worked on some older phones like the 8110, there was a page in netmonitor which could be triggered to turn off the automatic-light-on-function.... you had to press the power-button shortly to activate it...
this was soooo perfect, because suddenly the phone run like 2 times longer on batteries.... a feature which _EVERY_ phone should have but afaik NO phone has... :(((

Firstly, thanks to Sackgesicht & popsmart for your replies... ;)
wow,in that case, the batt will be empty if the lights are on all the way for about 11 hours (for the 1000 mAH batt)... :p
yup, i've tried Torch & FExplorer already, but like popsmart, what i really hope to have is a proggy to permanently switch off the backlights... :D
I also understand that the p800 actually has that function...
