Use 7650 as remote-control?

Hello there

Is there any application to use my 7650 as remote-control for my tv, video, and others.....?
There are softwares for PDA´s work fine.... is it possible to make such software for a symbian-phone?

I totally agree tht's a good idea but i don't think it's possible...
Why do we must have infrared so aligned with each other! We don't have to do that with our tv controllers!

The reason it wont ever control tv's video's etc properly is because there are 2 hardware implementations of infra red, they are irda and consumer ir, irda is used for data transfer between computers and consumer ir is used by tv remotes etc,

consumer ir can be emulated in software by irda devices but the range you would get would be around 20-30cm, and if your that close to the tv then you might as well just press the buttons on the front of it!!!:D
