I understand that not all 6310 can be unlocked using cable, how can you tell which ones are ok or not

All nokia's can be unlocked by cable - old ones with standart unlockers like JIC these newer ones only by flashing. Unlocking by Imei is most popular and easiest way for all sw versions.
