Hello,

I was wondering but it may be obvious but when you install software onto your phone, for example, MiniGPS and it has an evaluation period for 14 days, how does the software calculate how much time remains before registration is required??

i.e. Does it count's down 14 days from the date it was installed or does it work out the 14th day from the date when it was installed??

I was curious because if I forward dated my phone before installing the software and then installed it, then corrected the date on my phone to today's date, would the software last longer than the 14 day period as it has not reached the date it has calculated??

Has anyone tried this? Or am I being completely optimistic??

The easiest thing is just a key generator ;)

I know that would be the easiest thing to do but getting one for the latest version of MiniGPS is like gold dust! Unless you have got one?

XX Days limitations are all down to how good the programmer is.

1. If the programmer is clever, they will put an install date check.
i.e. if installed date is greater than current date - App expired.

2. Where and how they set the Date Installed is different.
- Program's from symbianware.com (Stacker,Appman etc) all use sw_......ini files in the system folder.
(So delete this file and the xxDays is reset)
- I've seen others use .ini files in the applications folder.
(deleting these ini's can cause the app to stop working)
