Ugrading 3310 flash ugrade

I'm trying to upgrade my 3310 from v04.35 to 5.57, i've used all the different types of software, read all the forums on this however, when i try it...the software reads the info on my phone but when i actually try to flash it, it say's either, "cannot initialise phone" or "cant read from phone" i use a switcheable fbus/mbus cable
i use Windows XP and ME. Any step by step help would be really appreciated.....please save my sanity as it's driving me crazy thanks in anticipation

you can't flash a phone using a fbus/mbus
cable. you must use a flasher cable connected
to the parallel port.

1. before flashing the phone, backup the
phone using rollis. (should be 2mb)
2. then flash using only 1,856mb flash files
only, so that you don't mess up the phone
3. after flashing with flasher cable, change to
mbus cable, then update the faid, then clear
sp locks.
4. if something goes wrong (phone doesnt wake up)
reflash the phone with the backup you just made.

As far as I am aware you are trying to FLASH it.... this can only be done using a flash cable connected to the LPT1 port. NOT the fmbus/mbus cable connected to the com port.

I hope I am right as this is what I do.............

How to backup the existing flashfile V4.35 before upgrade to V5.57 ? and what program to be used to make this backup.
If upgarde fail, how to restore back the previous Version ?

U'll need Rolis Flasher:
Press the green button or (Read in menu Flash) - Thisi id the way to backup your phone. (The phone must be turnned off and flasher cable connected). When is says Power on (or shit like that), put the charger in

thanks U can also use knok flasher for backup , option read fullflash and store as flash. Regards from Dydol :D
