Hallo,

how to set up a Infrared-connection between my Nokia 7650 and
my Dell Notebook running under german Win XP Pro ?

I have installed the Nokia PCSuite for 7650 (ver 1.20, which supports XP).
A Infrared driver is installed, there are no problems recorded by the OS.

In the BIOS i have enabled "Fast IR" at COM2.

In the "mRouter" (SystemTray) i have selected "Infrared".
But this "Infrared" is not connected to COM2.

I dont know how to get it worked....

Thanks in advance,

From what I remember, the architecture of Xp doesn't allow for physical com port allocation to an infrared port, when it's physically attatched, such as on laptops. (i might be wrong)

It just creates a virtual com port.

For NT it used to be that the physical com was 2 and then you'd have the virtual device at 4and 5, but I think with XP it uses a software emulation of the infrared port.

Anyway the infrared should work with mrouter just by clicking infra red. But I remember having problems with an old psion on a laptop. Cause the similar mrouter wouldn't find the infrared cause of the way XP allocates it's availability.

Have a search on google, I definitely found some stuff on it..but I don't think there was a solution at the time.

Hopefully it's not as bad as this...:) I'll try and have a look to see if I can find any of the old stuff I had. At least you can still send and recieve stuff to the fone over ir.

Zero.
