There have lots of people talking about upgrade firmware. Why do they bother about it? Does it make 7650 to work better?

Hi,

therea are 2 facts: Is a version buggy (e. g. 3.12) is it usefull to upgrade to the latest version. If you have 3.16 and higher, you can say "Never touch a running system" and do - nothing.

But if you want to have always the newest (best?) it is usefull to grade up. He, he, our members are only technic freaks and like the latest always.

But if you need an adice, look to the release notes of every upgrade and look, if you need these new features.

Latest version is - by the way - 4.39, some peples speak from 4.46. It could be different in countries.

upgrading cost? Its a little bit tricky. Normally, if you are a Club Nokia Member, you can upgrade within the warranty for free. Normally. But some NSC's are very difficult.

My advise is, to prevant all discussions, prepare you and go to the NSC. Say, you have big trouble with the phone (system errors, backlight are always on and so on and you must reboot the phone more times at one day. And sometimes it hangs and you must replace the battery. No other way. And to solve this probs, you want to have (must have) an upgrade to the latest version. And this is a case of warranty = for free!

This advise was some times done and it work to 100% at all peoples.

Final note: @ some phones (Siemens) you can do that by yourself by a bus cable. But not at the 7650. In this case it is only possible for owners with a big background of hacking soft and a hardware equipment. And on the top: Your warranty is gone.

Until you have a warranty, the assistance centers will upgrade u the flash 4 free ;)
That's a l0t cool.. I will upgrade my phone as soon as possible :-D

is that so? today before i walk into the nokia shop, i was holding 4.39 and i told them i would like to upgrade my firmware. two hour later i come back and collected my phone with 4.46.

can you pls explain more since i am still in the same country???

I feel that having the latest firware is very vital.. I mean it's kinda like getting the latest service packs for windows.. The letest is v4.46 and 4.39 is old (it's been out for ages!!) I don't have to make any excuse over here.. All i do i walk into a NSC hond over my phone, tell tham that i want a firware upgrade to the latest and could they please back up my phone fully.... lol...
