GPRS Just activated on my Network but...

Dear all,

Vodafone Live has been activated yesterday in Egypt. I can not log on IM+ or Doris Browser... I use the icon _Services_ to log on Vodafone Live (like WAP i think)...
What shall i do to log on IM+ or use Doris Browser?

Can the network deactivate the use of BOTH of them?!
This is what i was told by one of the customer service persons when i called today, but they do not understand anything i think!!! The service is still new, and they don't understand....

u have to do a new connection point (sorry for my english I'm just trying to translate from Italian language).

after u have a new gprs connection look at IP - it's to be set 0.0.0.0
I don't know about other settings they're from your operator

I've made a connection like the One i got, but changed the IP to 0.0.0.0, but all the other settings are like the one given to me by Vodafone.... Still, doesn't work....

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ask them if they provide an Internet accesss point node as well as the standard wap point.

If they do then get this activated and just ask them to send you the settings.

OR you could just try it urself....create a new connection you don't need to set any of the details other than the access point name which is

internet

This is how voda uk operates so it may/may not work.

Only Communicators / P800 are the mobiles that can access the INTERNET! Other mobiles, will access wap only!!
Does that make any sense?!?!??!

No they're sort of wrong,

They're correct that the 7650 doean't have an html browser as standard. But the internet access point is a 'name' only, it's what it's called in england

While they might be getting a little confused too. I know from vodafone customer support in this country that they don't have any technical kowledge, they only rely on a macro based program that helps them to answer questions.

This ensures that the operators don't become skilled workers which would mean that they would have to be payed more money. It's unfortunate but occassionally you'll get someone who has some advanced knowledge.

Anyway, If you can call them back and tell them that you want to use ur 7650 as a modem with ur pc using GPRS not Dial-up. And ask them how to do this.

The name of the point for this goes in settings/connection settings/GPRS/access point. If they support this then you should be able to ask them to add the ability to ur account.

Whatever the access point that they tell you to type in is called is the same point that you need to type in to create a new connection as I explained before.

It's perhaps early days for the service at the moment and they may not have activated full gprs capability.

Well, i've called, and told that i've got a P800, and i need the settings... Got the settings, with the ones i got already for my 7650... Merged them together.... And finally got onto the NET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
