t100 help for a newbie please

hi people, ive been trying to change the imei on my t100 :confused: i downloaded the program dir imei, i think i am getting the phone into test mode. i put the main file as t1oo.axf and put the baud rate to 115200. everything looks fine, when i press start is says downloading ram that finishes ok, but when i exit test mode and try to use the imei changer is says "component mscomctl.ocxor one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid" ive downloaded this program from three different sites and ive still got the same problem can you help?? i'm going nuts here.....cheers lee

failing this is there anyone in kent or the south east who can do this for me??

Hi Jackel - Ive never played with the IMEI number on my phone,but i have at least 12 different bits of software and a whole fortnight of crammed studying on Firmware changing,etc.....although it wouldnt be easy explaining through this method,i can tell you i live in Margate(almost)....you could bring the phone here and we could try,no promises.....tis up to you m8.....

I´m new on this and don´t know much about mobile phones. But I have a silly question, what is the IMIE code? Isn´t it the phones id.no? Why do people want to change it? Maybe that is basic knowledge on this site but I'm curious since I have a Samsung T100 myself.

Yep,in a nutshell,the IMEI number is specific to that phone,just like your DNA is to you!..until ur cloned :grin: .....
As for why people change IMEI numbers...well,think about it!...
If a mobile phone is on contract,gets lost,misplaced and the owner realises qwikly enuff and reports it lost/stolen,the phones network operator can lock/bar that phone from the network,making it useless....

I see. So in a hypothetic case, what´s needed to change the IMEI number then, a cable between the computer and the phone and software? Is it possible to get software that works 100%?

There is a particular prog that works 100% for the T100, most people will recognize it as a kind of a X-mas present. Mind you IMEI changing is illegal in the UK now. Can get you 5yrs at Her Magesties Pleasure so you gotta be a bit more careful.:-x
