I have a Nokia 5165 AT&T (version 6.03) . It works only on AT&T , I can change SOC and SID to Cingular but got "No service" . If I program SID & SOC to AT&T, It works fine (full signal).
I use Wintesla to clear out IRDB and use Cingular IRDB but still no hope....
Does anyone have that problem and how to solve that problem , please help......
I have another 5165 version 7.01....it works on AT&T and Cingular......

If you can change the SOC, SID and IRDB then there is nothing else preventing the phone from getting on cingular. Try resetting the phone a couple of times with NokiaClass.

I tried but no hope.... that phone only works on At&T ... I resetted it many time but still.
There is something I don't know.... I have couple phone before having same problem....I could not do it neither. Even I do "user transfer (Wintesla)" from another phone (work on AT&T-Cingular) but version (7.01)... Thank you anyway

Still no luck.
I do alot of phone before too (version 7.01) but this version (6.03) I couldn't do it .... I have Nokiasoc2. This is what I did:
1. Reset to default.
2. Custom reset (unlock SOC)
3. Do "*3001#12345# " to program SID and SOC (Cingular)
4. Power off and Power one.
5. "No service"
But if I program SID and SOC on AT&T -->> work fine.

I did the same thing with another model (TDMA)..... work both AT&T and Cingular....
I even clear out IRDB or copy IRDB from Cingular phone to it ....
I saved it on file and write back on AT&T phone still no luck

Any advice ?

I've had the same problem with one phone. It was locked to AT&Ts SOC of 2049. I unlocked it and did a user data transfer on Wintesla for a local carrier. The phone shows no service. In my case even reloading the ATT information did not help. Using the test mode the phone keeps switching to the F band and indicating no service (OOR-Out Of Range). Going back into the IRDB settings of wintesla and excluding the F band in scan order does no good either. And I've even tried using an external antenna...still no luck. The phone was working fine until I unlocked and transferred the user data. I don't know at what point it stopped working. The phone is a Nokia 5165. I have changed many other 5165s from AT&T and other carriers to a local one. This one's got me puzzled.

Check the irdb in wintesla and you might find the answer in "forbidden sids" or "forbidden socs". Sometimes they list the competition in both. YMMV

What did you find in the band search listing?? That used to confound me, till I started to use Nocclass to blow out the band locks and then reset them with Wintesla.

Saludos.

It seems to me that the problem that has the telefonos of at&T is that they block SCAN ORDER and for that reason they do not take
hold signal many times, with software nokiasoc you can change that parameter. Resetting the IRDB the scan order change to "ab"
I hope that it solutions.
Greetings.

That works, but still better if you have both programs is to clear the irdb (a la 8260) with Nocclass and then insert the band search motif you want with Wintesla.

Your band order is off. Change it arround till you find which band the cingular is in your area and put that band first.

In my area Cingular use band b. I try that , I won't work. I read NAM book, they said: 5165 some special version design for AT&T. I guess, That is why it did not work....Thanks

Hi!

If you are getting roam in a home area for Cingular. Try this:

First of all using *#6391# and make sure to enter a phone number (press OK), then enter a five digit SID under code and press OK. This will tell the phone that when it finds that particular SID that it is on the home system and your roaming indication will probably go away.

Also under the IRDB information you are using, you have no partner SOC or SID information. The phone will use this to determine where it has home or preferred rates. You may need to copy this information from another Cingular phone.

Between the two you should have no trouble using the converted AT&T phone on Cingular. I do have the IRDB files for US Cellular if anyone needs them (TDMA markets only). And for AT&T.

Hope this helps!
