View Full Version : Hantro File Size Modification?
Have tried Hipcam 1.02 on my 3650 but the quality was very poor compared to the quality of video I get from Hantro 3.4. Is there anyway of getting Hantro (Nokia Video Recorder) to record a file larger than its 95k/100k?
Wondered if anyone had modified the program to record 1mb like Hipcam does?
If not does anyone have any other camcorder software they would recommend that has the quality of hantro but the flexibility of Hipcam?
TIA

This is a code problem - mail Hantro for that.
Unfortunately, HipCam still has a lot of problems like hanging in the middle of making a clip (which results in a defective file) and combining with sound the framerate is really poor.
But if we want one meg clips, we'll just have to use Emuzed's proggie - for the moment.

No, thats not helpfull, cause it is international agreemant between hard- and softwaredevelopers, to limit all video soft near under 100 kB. The thing is, to send this vids as mail (MMS), and the netprovider dont want bigger files.
HipCam is the first and one soft without this limit - dont know, why. Equal, it works and this is ok.

Didn't know that, thanks for that info, Sackgesicht.
Judging from that, HipCam will be the only proggie that will "break the rules". But if I recall, the Wind video aplication had no problem with the fact that it made 150K files (you added the sound to the final video)...
Well, rules are meant to be broken :}

The difference of quality consist in Hipcam compress "on the fly" during record (and so the flow of frames could be paused for this or the quality is poor compressed) unlike hantro that saves your mp4 video after it record it. So the post process is the best solution!
If Hipcam could compress after, the video will be better..

Well, I personally prefer HipCam's on-the-fly encoding rather than waiting a century for Hantro to encode it. I kinda don't know if I am the only one, but I really hate to wait THAT long for something to be encoded that's only 100 KB in size :{
@Jesal: Well, I have to disagree on that. It hanged more than twenty times already on my phone. And a couple of times during recording really great clips (tit flashing). So banging my head on the desk is really not that rare if u use hipcam, hehe.

There is somewhat a cloud of misunderstanding in the air today... i DIDN'T say I don't use HipCam, i use ONLY HipCam, but it hangs like crazy.
...yet it's so far the only program that records videos bigger than 150K so what the heck.
I know hantro takes an age to save the file, but in the end, the quality is better and the sound is in sync. I have tried hipcam a few times & the fact you can record longer video is great, but the quality lets it down. Would rather wait an age and have those great moments saved in good quality, so how would you go about reverse engineering hantro to record a longer clip (e.g 1mb)? I know it would take 10x as long to save it as it currently does, but I'm sure it would be worth it.
Other thing is, obviously Hantro records in some uncompressed format before it encodes it? A lot of the time it would be great to be able to e-Mail the video straight from the phone as something like an mpeg so people didn't have to download the player. I would assume that as an uncompressed format, the 3650 could record in higher resolution? I know its all ifs and buts, but if someone knows the best way of finding out how to do something like this, I would be grateful for suggestions.

Hehe, then you are probably the only person that would use it (the one meg hantro version)
and just to let you know that that's never going to happen I will quote Sackgesicht from the second post here: "cause it is international agreemant between hard- and softwaredevelopers, to limit all video soft near under 100 kB"
Cheers.

:D :) :D
Would be good though, so many times has the 100k version ran out just before the crucial moment. Oh well, will have to hope that Hipcam gets better soon.
I guess its not as simple as just changing a value somewhere in the software then before installing it? :rolleyes:
What language is it likely to be in then? Reversable?
