Hey,

Could anyone tell me how to repair a bad flash? I think i flashed my nokia 5510 wrong and now when i switch it on nothing happens. The backlight stays on for a few mintes, then switches off.

I'm using rolis wih a flasher cable in the lpt port and trying to restore a flash I backed up but it always says "Tx=High, Expected Tx=Low"

If any one could help that would be great.

Thanks,
Jonathon

remove the battery, restart rolis flasher, hit "write binary buffer to phone", THEN put battery and connector in phone, press power button on handset. should now start flashing.

If not, then check your battery, it may be dead. instead of using the battery, when it says "press power on phone" plug in a normal (working) charger. this will ensure you have enough flashing voltage. (remember to leave the battery in the phone or the cable wont fit!)

good luck, let me know how it goes.

hi,

Thanks for the help but that doesn't work :(

It still comes up the same. In the status bar:

"Wait for boot counter accept(Phone Tx=High)"

And as a message window:

"Preloader initalisation error:
Error Code: 00 00
Reason:-
- cable problems
- delay index too small
- mobile HW malfunctions
"

:(

you tried increasing the delay index in rolis? sometimes this helps with dodgy flash cables, also make sure that none of the pins on the flash head are stuck, or dirty as this will stop play.

As a last resort you could send the phone and I'll try flashing it for you but I cant promise anything, I've had a few 3310/30's come into the shop where I work with errors in the flash, occasionaly you will find that the flash is faulty and will not accept data.

one last thing before you probably give up, twist the phone while attempting to flash it, if there are any dry joints on the cpu, flash or any other related components then usualy flashing wont work. by twist I mean apply a helical twisting motion while attempting to press the power button with your third hand.

Good luck, keep us informed.

Dave.

Hi,

Thanks, that worked - only problem now is that it switches on, freezes then switches off. It can't find networks either.

I have already flashed the ext_ui board.

Thanks

Hi,

Just to let you know i've almost got it sorted. I flashed it and flashed a virgin eeprom, then gave it the IMEI.

Now it switches on, doesn't freeze but the sim card wont register on the network :( (sim card is read, messages/numbers are there)

So i'll just find out how to sort that :)

Thanks for the help

[edit] I got it fixed. i set the IMEI to the one on the back of my phone, then reset the security code - works like a charm :)

glad to hear it worked, what was the problem? delay in rolis or did it need a twist?

A bit of both i think.

Mostly i think it was just the pins were sticking a little.

But, seems to be working now (only thing is the WAP freezing, but that was there before the flash so i think that it's a software problem)

Thanks again for the help :)
