8810 queries

Hi I'm new to this section, I have my sisters 8810 to repair it, I have fixed the hard wear and was wondering if there is any firm wear out there to update or enhance it? as it's got very old soft ware on it V04.05 made in 1998. I did a little bit of serching but it seems that the 8810 is not a very popular phone. My second question is can I kill the faid ect to put new soft wear on it, as I only have a flasher cable and no mbus, and my phone is a 3315 and I'm new to these weird 88 series. Any help would be appreceated.
