Just thought I'd mention this as there are no posts on it :-)

Also, it seems to be working fine with the cracked DLL that came with irRemote 0.93 (though I haven't used it past 10 days so don't know if it will keep on working after then...)

Is there any difference between that and earlier versions?

Would be nice if there were some maps? I've tried the so called OKmap but that is useless...

I'm sorry to dissapoint you but, (I think), that if it is displaying the message you say, it means that is NOT cracked realy....

What message are you talking about? All I said was that the latest version works alongside the cracked DLL, whereas other programs like irRemote don't.

Yeah, but you also said:

So I assume that you are still getting the warning message on startup, otherwise (if it is cracked), why would you mention that of the 10 days??

- IF YOU GET THE MESSAGE it is not cracked (at least on this program) &,
- IF IT IS CRACKED, it is cracked, and you don't need to worry about any day limit.....

How do you apply the patched .dll and where can I get it from? Have downloaded the new version and it looks good, just not sure it will be good enough for what I want to use it for.

Also what is OK Map? Have tried to use it with the demo version on MiniGPS and can't get it to work.

Would be grateful as well if someone could explain to me how area & cell ID's work?

I guess one of these is different depending on the area?

TIA

No longer need the crack, have tried the evaluation version and its nowhere near acurate enough for what I was considering. Thought it may be possible to start a database of speed traps, so you could put them into MiniGPS and have the phone alert you, but after driving home last night and the cell being the same for miles, I think its not really suitable. :-(

There is NO warning message. There is NO message that you have a wrong DLL like in irRemote. That is ALL i am saying. It seems to work with the cracked DLL, but I am NOT guaranteeing that it will continue to work after 10 days - meaning I cannot verify that the program continues to work like a cracked version past 10 tens, until I have used it past 10 days. I remember people saying that the demo version stops working after 10 days.

Blue, that's a nice idea of using miniGPS as a speed trap alarm, but the cell id's change depending on what network zone you are in. I can't remember the technical names...but here goes at an explaination:

There are transceivers placed around the country, spaced out so that they cover the whole extent of the areas the network wants to provide a service to. These transceivers "talk" to your phone and have a range of X metres. The transceivers' zones are circular in nature (transmitting in 360 degrees), so in order to cover complete areas, some of the zones will overlap.

When the network signal is low for the current transceiver your phone is talking to, the network switches you automatically to another transceiver in the area that can provide a better signal. The automated switching happens so that you will always be connected as you move around, in and out of transceiver zones. These zones vary in size as each transceiver may have different signal strength.

I have had my phone switching in and out of 6 zones while in a stationary location. So it is not viable for accurate use. The program only SIMULATES GPS...

Hope that clears it up for you.

here in the philippines, we have Location-Based-Service to emulate such location finding queries.. but of coarse these are Value added services being offered to subscribers, that is.. OPERATORs charge subs for such sms request. Signal strength of 3 neighbouring cells are utilized to compute triangulation. thus gives you a fairly accurate results translated to 500m radius vicinity.
