Unlocked 3650 and T-mobile not compatible?

Hello, My friend also bought a factory unlocked 3650 and has T-mobile sim card he signed up in last November. The phone does not work w/ his sim card but works fine w/ T-mobile cards that are more than a year old. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thank you ~~~

goto carphonewarehouse or somethin similar (nokia service center, etc) and ask for a firmware upgrade.. they shouldnt charge.
