MMC-Formatting problem at 3650

Hi, specialists,

today I get a new big MMC card. But its impossible for the Nokia Suite to access to it (message: No card inside).

I have formatted more times, but at the end of progress I get many error messages:

"Memory card have a mistake"
"programm will be closed: AppArcServerTh read user 139"
"Mistake. operation abort"

(Note: I have translat the german messages to english).

Every time I get a message if I tried to set the new name for the MMC, after confirmation of "Memory card" I get an error.

I have no card reader.

Please, please help me. Another users in a german forum has this problems too.

Some pplz say, we can only use original Nokia cards or Sandisk, cause Nokia engineers has changed the pins at the phone to an another. But coult this be true? MMC is a Standard for all cards (hardware devices and cards).

Just wondering what size and what brand of MMC did you buy? Hmmm, before I formatted my MMC and halfway in the process my phone shut down so I tried to format it again but it won't read my MMC so I went t to a computer store to buy a MMC card reader maybe that would fix it but 1st I told the salesperson that I want to try the reader 1st to check and see if it can read/write on my MMC but it won't recognize it either so he formatted MMC and there it works. Well I didn't buy the card reader that but I eventually did after about a week. B'cuz I realize transfering movie files and mp3's on my mmc using IRDA took to long...

When he inserted it to the MMC Card reader you have a option to format the MMC card...

Hi, pplz, here are new facts:

between I format the 3650 (no risk through software mistakes).

Now the error "AppArcSErver Th read user 130" is gone. Status quo is now:

- phone booting with inside MMC is not possible (error: boot action not successful, contact your local dealer)

- without card (or my old Nokia card) it is normal.

- With insided card (manufacturer: G.E.I.L. - size: 256 MB) I have no access to it. The message is always: mem card with mistakes. Than advice the phone: format it. If I do and at the end of process of formatting comes the field to insert the card name. I confirm the basic name MEMORY CARD and than comes always the error again: Disfunction (or mistake in english?) Process interruped..

Any new help?

The 3650 only addresses MMC cards up to 128MB thats probably your problem

I've been wanting a 256 MB MMC. I thought it can use a 256 but I guess it can't.. Hmmm, maybe a firmware upgrade would do it... Try to ask nokia...

Just quoting what I was told by the phone company when I bought mine.

Have you tried another card or used it with a different app, if another card causes the same fault then it would point the finger of blame at the phone

Kinda... Officially from Nokia the word is that 128MB is the largest it'll handle, but I have heard in various forums around the web that it can run higher. The card needs to be formatted at a PC or another device, but it has worked for a lot of people.

I guess Nokia just didn't want to code a few extra lines for formatting ;-)

Hi,

between my card is formatted with a MMC-Cardreader at a PC.

The 3650 "knows" the card now with its new name and the correct capacity (256 MB).

But I have access to read/write/edit. With a Filemanager sometimes I see drive "E", sometimes not.

I wrote to Nokia and the answer was: Nokia dont support 3-rd party hardware like this MMC and my warranty was gone.

Thats all.

Please, friends, another soulutions?

Have anybody contact to a Nokia technican or developer and can ask to the limit of MMC?

But the limit to formatting is not so possible, cause formatting is very rare. The point is that this card with 256 should work.

Anybody from Finland and can ask to Nokia direct? Perhaps we need a patch ore firmware update?

What firmware version do you have? Can you still return the memory card from where you bought it from?

firmware is V2.50 / 13-02-03. I think, there is no newer released...
"Give the card back" is not so easy, cause it was a eShop at Inet, and now the card is not new more.

But I dont give up so quick. Why it dont work?

We have the same version... I don't know what else to say hopefully you could figure out how to make the 256 work on the 3650 b'cuz I do plan to upgrade my 128 to 256. But I believe the firmware V2.54 is out.....

install Sele Q program on your phone memory, reset phone, while u turning on the phone hold the abc and or the pencil button ( the phone will run on the safe mode). Run the Sele Q program, then select the E drive w/c is usually ur MMC. Delete all the files which is was installed on your MMC. After u delete all the files, try to reformat again the MMC..... I will not gurantee that this sequence will gonna work....it is for you if you gonna try...

edit: I try it again, and now it is "visible". I try an access with datas to the card. Yes, I can make pic to the card. Than I go the the Nokia suite but it says: No mem card inside.

Now I go to Sele Q and..... NO, the drive is away.

No chance.
