first makesure you have a good infra red /bt connection if not then
I would advise you to first press and hold the menu button to see a the task manager - a list of running programs.
Then i would press 'c' to cancel each one of them.
Then i would re-try that again.
if that doesn't work try to uninstall all but essential apps...usually this error is related to active programs eg sercurity/file progs..
good luck

Same Error message! But I hope and think it saves all data correct. I looked with a Hex-Editor in the saved *.DAT Files and found all my messages and contacts. In the past i didnīt see thes error, may be since i installed STACKER 3.0.

In the backup folder of the PC Suite backup, i found a lot of files (91 files) with a 3digit filename and a .DAT extention, i.e. 795.DAT, 796.DAT, 834.DAT ..... .
Now i search with windows to some names of the calendar, i made before, and i found it all entries in file 799.DAT (8k), search to a name in phonebook (contacts database) and found all entries in file 802.DAT (42k), search some words of incomming and outgoing messages and i found every message in a separate *.DAT file. To look into a *.DAT File i use hexedit.
All *.DAT files a new, same date and time i made the backup.
In the past i use my notebook with IR and the old PC Suite comming with my phone on cd and at this time i saw no error on the phone.

this error just tells u that the phone is closing all running apps, to do the backup correctly. it even tells u on the pc "closing apps". i allways have this error and it is working fine

yes, what wenmi said is true. As long as PC Suite says backup is successful, then there is nothing to worry about.
The error messages come from the phone trying to kill any running apps in the background. It is a forceful kill, so make sure you save whatever you are doing on the phone before running backup. It is always best to close all running apps using the task manager. Any other apps still running such as TaskManager or miniGPS...may cause the error message, but there is nothing to worry about.
