Extra light in Nokia 5110

Hello, just got an idea.... Since the vibra motor is in the 5110's battery, and I don't got such a batt, we've could plce a new Led on the board, and connect it to the vibra contacts?

Now 2 questions:

Where should I connect this LED to the batt?
How would the software recognize that there's a "Vibra Batt" attached, cause there's a hidden menu, wich only activates, when you attach a vibra batt.

hmm.. i have been thinking that too when i had 6110.

battery itself needs only 2 pins, + and -, right? would then the 2 other pins in battery have to be connected to recognise vibra?

if someone has some old bad batteries for 6110/5110, could you open battery to see if there are those 2 pins not connected and if there could be connected vibra or led?

It might be possible, but some protection measures must be taken: the vibra motor has almost for sure a different voltage input (different as in higher) and the led has normally a 1.8V.

Second : if the motor is dirrectlly connected then the autodetection is not possible (or at least I don't know a way of doing it), so I think there is an intelligent detection mechanism that involves some supplemntary circuitry. That means we get the ciruitry schematics we modify it and insert it in the phone with a led instead of a vibra motor.

That is very possible but remember what I wrote there ^.

I myself have opened some accumulators and all of them, at least the original ones, had some suplementary schematics even though they didn't had a vibra motor. So, if a simple acc has it, the vibra batt is very possible to have it too.(Meaner and larger :) )

Yes, all the batteries have a circuit board in them, which is to protect the battery from overcharging and "telling" the phone when it's full. The non-vibra battery's board contains only two parts, a diode and another which i guess a resistor.
The Vibra-Batt also contains an IC and several other parts. It is to control the vibra motor and telling the phone that it's a vibra battery, thus enabling that "secret menu".
Now, if you get hold of an (old, dead) vibra battery, open it carefully, and replace the actual battery cells with the ones from your current non-vibra battery or, better, use brand new cells (AAA size is fine, have to be soldered together tough!). Test, if it works, specially, if it charges! Then get hold of the vibra motor, cut it off it's wires and replace it by a LED plus a resistor, try various ones 100-470 ohms. Voila, you got that extra light. Test if it works by activating the vibra menu, and let someone call you (LED's have to be correct polarized). After it works, do with that LED whatever you want, place it in the phone, in the batery or via a long cable on your sunglasses :) You can also try to use several LED's serialled which you could place at several places, say, around the display or where ever. The LED's will come on in Rhytm of the Vibra. Don't use too many as it will overload the controller!
The four contacts of the battery are all used... Ground (common), Voltage out (to the phone), voltage IN (charge, FROM the phone) and control (vibra, temperature etc).
