Hi,

My 3310 suddenly shuts down when a cover is attached on it. If I remove the cover, it acts normally. What's the problem?

BOEBOE, it sounds like theres a short somewhere around the battery contacts. when pressure is applied when the cover is put on, the contacts might seperate(i.e power off).. check power contacts and maybe reflow.

should help! ? :)

Your cover is surely detaching the battery's connections with any of the connectors of the phone. Try changing the outer cover with some other cover or a new one, it must do the job. If it does'nt, get the exact position of your battery checked in the phone after the cover is on at the nokia service center.

Then I am sure that your battery case is damaged. See your local Nokia service. Some part of the cover is detaching the battery from phone connectors. Not a unknown problem to nokia users. I have seen two such cases.

Try this: When you attach the front cover (phone ON) see if it already shut down. If so, the power button might be "pressed" by the cover.... i had that with mine. If that is the case, use a SHARP knife (carpet cutter) to cut a bit off the "hole" in the cover where the rubber cover of the power button goes. That should help.
Watch the phone when you attach the covers. Keep it on, then look at the display when attaching the front, then the rear. At a certain point the "shutdown" will happen, maybe in the moment when you slide the back cover in position. Slide it slow, and watch the display. How does it shut down? With the lights coming on? Or just "off"? If the latter, it's a battery issue and caused by the back cover. If the light first comes on, then it's the power button issue.
Also possible is a defect on the phone's PCB which comes only to effect when pressure is applied by the covers. Try this: Keep the covers off and the phone on. Then apply SOME pressure to the phone with your hands. Carefull with the display! Don't press it. If at any point the phone shuts down or "off", it's this type of defect. Also jiggle the battery a bit. When it then turns off, it's a battery contact issue. Do you use some accessory that connects to the battery contacts, such as a flashing keypad? This can cause such things. Own experience here!
Good luck in the hunt for the mystery.....

BOEBOE I had a very similar problem but it occurred when I pressed down on the C and 1 buttons!

The RAM chip was slightly out of socket and just needed a reheat!
