Hi!
My girlfriend managed to lock her 3510 with a security code. This was no problem but now she changed her SIM and the phone asks for the code.
I know that getting the security code isnīt that problematic usually, but:
Is it possible to get the code while not being in the "main menu" of the phone?
thanks
sammy
If you have a data cable (FBus/Mbus thingme) you could read the security code with most nokia software (Logomanager would do the trick)
Just to check, you mean the security code which defaults to "12345" right? If you changed sim for a new one then that might be the security code. If not, I don't think there is another way to get that code without a cable.
Is the sim a new one, if so it will be at it's default setting(?). If it's an old one, read it in with a cable.

jeah... itīs the code thatīs usually 12345 (till you change it)...
I hope it works cause i have to buy a cable....
I would make one but the connection to the phone would be a little .... uhm .... improvised ;o)
The problem why it might not work: the security code is not a "SIM thing" but a "mobile-thing". So if i dont enter the code after entering the PIN i donīt get to the main menu. And if iīm not inside the main menu, is the phone able to communicate with the PC?
thanks for answering.....

I connected up my 3410 with a FBus cable and switched it on. I did NOT enter a pin. I went to logomanager:
Logomanager --> Tools --> Phone Explorer (F9)
It had my IMEI number and the security code.
I then quit Logomanager and changed the security code from '12345' to '54321' (God I'm original :) )
<EDIT>Switched off the phone</EDIT>
Switched on the phone, didn't enter a pin, <EDIT2>Fire up logomanager,</EDIT2> F9...and it has the correct security code (54321).
Since these are different phones I cannot be sure, but since I'm not even entering the pin, I honestly would have thought it would have worked.

P.S. If this doesn't answer you question and I infact just wasted 5 minutes of my time and infact can't read properly please say...:)

so...
Finally got the cable, plugged it in, opened logomanager...
reading IMEI, reading Software version...
[worldiscrumblingdownmode=on]
Security Code unavailable
[worldiscrumblingdownmode=off]
Any other ideas? Like flashing or stuff?

Hello again samallica,
That is a real shame, now that you've bought the cable. Flashing your mobile would require another cable (a flasher cable that connects to your parallel port, so unless you're really desperate...)
I suggest you try with a lot of other software, just because logomanager doesn't detect your security code, doesn't mean that others won't. Try "Nokia Tool by Jordik", though be warned it is unstable, though it has never caused any permanent damage, it has caused my phone to crash (Just power off/on again)
That should hopefully read your security code.
If not try other software!
Gluck!
Bob
p.s. what do you mean by "[worldiscrumblingdownmode=on]", where does this show??

says MBUS error..... could be that my cable is FBUS only though i bought it as F/MBUS (is there a difference between F/MBUS and just MBUS? the schematics that are out there seem quite different)

just a joke to express my emotional state that moment ;o)
i believe i tried the security code thing 5 times or more so it wonīt help to know it anyway.....
I'll have to flash the thing....
anyway, thanks a lot for your help.....

@bobl the 3510 is a DCT-4 mobile logomanager doesn't work nor does nokia tool by jordik its for DCT-3 Mobile
@samallica use the attached software to fix your problem open the picture file for a howto
3510 is a DCT-4 mobile
I am going senile aren't I? I keep thinking that this forum is only dct3!
Cheers cprafferty, least someone around here is sane ;)
Good luck samallica, least I was in the right direction!
