View Full Version : Footprint and functionality

Hi all,

I thought it would be a good idea to make a comparison thread to compare similar programs with regard to their footprint and functionality.

For example:

Stacker (fp:129kb) vs. sDoubler (fp:102kb), file browsing in Stacker not in sDoubler, etc. Stacker is non-memory resident (it unloads itself from rom after use).

Please post your findings.

I know it is not new, but all info is scattered around the forum (much like MS Windows handles it's installed apps :D )

Actually, I think that SFC's idea is pretty good...

Specially when you read the ammount of posts and polls asking precisely that "whats better AAAAAA or BBBBBBB...?"

...because of course, at the time of deciding between 2 programs that do the same, you'll also be conditioned by the ammount memory that it "consums", and whether this memory is ROM, etc...

LET'S DO IT!

I agree with u fully, it is a good idea, but it has allready been discussed. that's my point. you can find all the answers using the search option.

way to go SFC! if someone has read the same topic from another thread or the question posted has already been answered in another thread---> then DON'T post a reply. some people just submits a reply to be rude and make unnecessary comments and pretend they know everything. a few (definitely not schizo) even uploads an app in their web folders and ask the forum readers if that app works or he'll remove it if doesn't. why don't he try it himself instead before uploading?

this is a good thread SFC.

Hey man, that was just to help everybody, and i said I would remove it and put another version there, because i didn't know which one was the good one!

And I can't test it, because my battery is dead and I need to get a new one, so please give me a break!

and @ sfc: I allready apologised for my rude post and said I wouldn't do so again! so please, don't think low of me!

@ paulw84: I won't, rest assured..

But on-topic:

I was looking at the eBook readers (before my phone died), and tested eBook (SymbianWare), HandyBook (EpocWare) and Mobipocket.

Mobipocket has a way too large footprint (although it has the most functionality). HandyBook and eBook are very similar, but eBook has the advantage of supporting two filetypes and has a few more functions.
