I have stored a number in the phonebook. Whenever any message comes from the number, the name is not shown in the message list in inbox. But it is shown above properly when you open the message for reading or forwarding. The name is "Divya/Aryan".
Is the error because of the "/" sign in the name?

6610 does'nt allows duplicate entries mate...

@Yjagota
Yo, of course the 6610 allows duplicate entries :) press right softkey (names) and go to "Settings". Select. The very first item now coming up is "Memory in use". Select. There select "Phone and SIM". Press red button to leave menu.
Then again "Names" and then "Copy" and after that "From SIM card to phone" and there you are :) Now you got all names in both SIM and phone memory. Now the name of the SMS sender should show up. It does so in mine 6610 :)
If you use caller groups, be sure that you put both the SIM entry AND the phone entry of that person in the same caller group! Otherwise instead of the group ringing tone the default tone will sound :)
Cheers from BKK....

i forgot this one.....
maybe you have that number stored with two different names? Example a friend "Axel F." has a number +6613334445 and i have him stored under this number as "Axel F." and "Axel F" see the difference? The missing dot in the second entry. If he sends me a SMS now, the phone isn't sure if that came from "Axel F." or "Axel F" and instead of the name, shows only the number. That happened with several of my friends already, having used SIM-cards that allow only 8-digit names but saved in the phone with 9 digits or more. Make sure all your entries are EXACTLY same in phone and SIM memory. And that you don't have the same number assigned to different names!
Hope i could help you with that...

Hi Thanh...
U r absolutely right, but I'm talking about one single entry. You can't repeat the name in the PhoneBook. You can, but you just confuse the phone by doing that...

My original question is still not answered...:(

Its not repeating the name that would be the problem as such, its repeating the number somewhere. You could have John saved as 123456 AND Pete saved as 123456 and the phone would only display the number.

Hi again :)
mm i am not to sure what you mean by "single entry"... but try this:
Copy this entry to the phone's memory, do not change it! (if it IS in the phone's memory, copy it to the SIM memory, just copy, NOT move!) so that you have the entry twice. Make sure it is absolutely the same! Then look if you have another entry somewhere with that same phone number, maybe "Divya/Aryan" and "Divya". If there is only that one entry with that number (attention... leading +66 (or your country code) and "0" count as the same!) let this person send you a SMS. The name should appear.....
Try it :) It works perfect for me. Slashes shouldn't matter at all......

Guys Guys Guys...
I'm not having any problem with my Phone Book (pb). The problem is:
When you open your Inbox, the list shows the names from the pb if the number is stored in the pb, and starting message text if it's not. Right? The problem is : A particular number with name "Divya/Aryan" is stored in the pb but the Inbox list still shows the starting message text instead of showing the name itself.
I thought the problem was because of the "/" character, but the problem remained even after removing this char and making the name just "Divya".
I think, now u understand...

Dear friend, i knew this from the very beginning of the thread, and it happened to myself before (with a 8250 then)... that's why i try to let you test the methods which helped me, which was copying the pb entries and make them same in both phone and SIM memory, enabling both memories etc..... If that does not work with your phone, then the onlyu possibility left is, that you have another pb entry under the same phone number. Nothing else is possible.....
When that person gives you a call, does the name show up or the number? If the name, everything SHOULD be fine...... if then also only the number shows, it is like i said, another entry on the same number.
Hint: Seen this only on the D-TAC network here in thailand... if a entry is saved without the leading +66, i.e 0134567890 instead of +6613456789, the name won't show in SMS. But only on that particular network here! Try that, too... include your country code instead of the leading "0".
Good luck.......

delete the name and add a new contact named "d" and see if that works. Perhaps there is a problem with the number, do u have it saved under the international format i.e. +44 (for uk), try changing that.

Nope, not working. The number is being saved in normal format without any country code and '+' sign, it's a mobile number.
