Headset

I am trying to get a Plantronics M140 headset to work with a Nokia 6310i. When I answer or dial a call the headset works for about 2 seconds before ending the call. When I tried the headset on another 6310i with the same firmware (V 4.07), it workedd properly.

Does anybody know if this is a hardware or a software problem and know how to resolve it?
