SMS received notice

Is there a way of receiving a read-receipt for an SMS that would not disappear in a second? and that could be read or processed later?

u can go to the phone log
by pressing ctrl+shift+L
there u can see logs of all sms u have sent, and (on pressing the right arrow), see whether they are pending or delivered.
