another, t100 unlocking newbie

im a newbie to unlocking samsungs.

my mate has given me a a-300 with his old simcard

if i put my O2 sim in it request a simlock number, if i put the owners sim back in it asks for a pin number

i have the software to unlock it but i need a cable. another mate of mine has a t-100 cable. will this work?

what is the difference between a pin number and a simlock number?

do i need to change the imei number?

the t100 cable will not work for the a300

the simlock number will let u use any simcard after the code is inputted the simlock is specifically built in the fone and the pin is built in the sim card

can i remove the simlock by inputing a universal code? or do i definatly need a cable.

does anyone know a site that shows how to build data cables? or a site that a shows the pinout descriptions on the t100 and a300.

im good with electronics so i don't mind modifying a cable and strapping some pins to it if need be
