This is an improvement on the series 60 being a serie 7 :) no doubt about it. Better looks than both 3650 en 7650 (though still pretty big). And the features are even more enhanced> zoom on the lens (without having to buy one! :) )
This simply is Nokia's attack on the P800. In the meanwhile irritating a lot of 3650 owners to hell by releasing it this soon after the 3650. But that might count for 7650 owners as well.
Personally I bought the 3650 to be my last and pretty advanced pre-UMTS phone, but now......Im getting an itch people :)

Aside from symbian 7 and 6mb of ram instead of 4 it's identical to the 3650 apart from looks.

2x zoom is digital, the same effect can be done in photoshop etc, all it is is enlarging the picture, not bringing it any closer. So it'll make the quality worse.

Oh well, i'm happy with my 3650 with 128mb mmc :)

well i think the owners of the 7650 will be more interested in the 6600 than 3650 owners...

if 7650 owners are to give up their phone for another... it will have to be the 6600 and not the 3650... thats why there are more positive response about this topic from 7650 owners... :D

It is so random, isn't it !?! 6600 will work with Symbian OS 6.0 but if suddenly they decide 2 make with 7.0 I think it's not going 2 be so disastrous cuz all apps will be made 2 work with 6600. 6mb memory.. with mmc slot.... 3650 also has mmc, the 6mb to 4mb internal memory difference doesn't make much of a difference if you have a mmc slot.

the display is 65000, which is better.... but.. not enough reason from me to change....

OS...symbian 7.0.. against symbian 6.0.... hmmm im perfectly contented with 6.0.

in my opnion... im just gonna stick with my 3650 for now, until i can find a true pda phone type of phone...

Yeap, I agree with all of you who said that 6600 will be almost the same as 3650 and only the 65k display will be the most significant difference between them. I agree, too, with the idea about a Nokia model with TouchScreen cuz it'll look much more as real PDA. 6600 - is not going to operate with OS 7.0 !!! But I'll w8 till the official release of the phone and then I'll decide what 2 do with my lovely 3650. Honestly, I think that the perfect future cell phone from Nokia should be with 65k display, touchscreen, integrated radio, torch and some other small details and extras :) We'll see what will happen at the end

SX-1 's keypad is boring like 3650. Yes maybe usefull for gaming. If you people complaining for their 3650's keypad how can you say that SX-1 is better than 6600. So many 7650 users haven't changed their phone to 3650 because of this and so many 3650 users still have problems about the keypad.3650 has MMC and that is a big problem in 7650 that it has not but i think some facts like usability is a very importent thing for mobile users.

The main advantages of the SX1:

Stereo sound - I will be using the device for mp3's. If you have ever compared the sound from p800 (stereo) to 3650(mono) you will see a HUGE difference in quality.

Keypad layout - having buttons beside the screen means that functions on the screen can point to the buttons beside them - VERY useful for the user interface in may programs AND games. Keypads have EVOLVED!

Camera - specs yet to be released, if siemens is smart the camera will be better than nokia's effort.

Looks - very professional - 'different/interesting' layout, which is attractive and functional (as opposed to the ugly/difficult 3650 and boring/toyish 6600)

Coming some 6 months after the announcement of the SX1, the 6600 should have been FAR FAR better, personally I was expecting it to be nearly as revolutionary as the 7650 was. Instead it is mediocre and only just on level with the competition.

The big disadvantage of 6600 is the touchscreen, honestly. If they put 200+ MHz processor I'll be so happy cuz if the phone is fast it'll allowed us 2 make more accurate operations. And I disagree with the idea about the radio - if they create a handsfree with radio I'll use it. Furthermore, I think that Nokia presents 6600 cuz they want to introduce the idea of the new communicator from 9*** series. 6600 - this is not a revolutional cellular, don't forget. Neverheless, Nokia 7650 owners I can't see any sober reason why not buying 3650 and w8 for the newest HI-TECH wonder from Nokia Corporation. That's the only think I want to say. Nowhere did I say it takes 6 months to develop a new phone/OS.

Not that symbian OS7 is a whole new OS. How much input into the symbian OS development does nokia actually have? Because of course symbian OS is not ONLY on mobile phones....

This of course is why the 6600 has been announced, a phone that is marginally (if anything) ahead of the competition to keep market share. It would have been very foolish of Nokia to release a phone light years ahead of any others.
The 7650, the 6600, ... they're examples of sound marketing strategy.
The 7650 _was_ light years ahead, but it was guaranteed a short lifespan due to the deliberate ommission (sp?) of expandable memory. It had to be this way as the first step in a bigger plan.
The 6600 is an example of an incremental step product - ie why release one killer phone, when you can release 10 'nearly there' phones and generate 10x as much revenue by people upgrading to the next 'nearly there' model as the are seeped out.

So yes, I was definitely expecting too much from Nokia with this release. What I really want to know is when they will make the next BIG innovative step.

Well it is not only a marketing strategy. You also have to consider the technology roadmap, the developers that invest money and time to develop apps, etc...

Phones are presented 6 months ahead to let 3rd parties/operator to develop and test their products... so you, guys, can have some apps to <s>play with</s> steal.

Dont expect any revolutionary product on the S60 front before 04.

R u sure it's mono? I didn't read this anywhere... Anyhow, even if it is mono, it could have a serious speaker like 7250 or 5100 and still be handy for some music. After all, guys, don't wait for the universe to turn upside down in 2 years time. Our phones do a lot of things we couldn't even dream before a couple of years... They can't replace the cameras and mini disc players and mp3 players and video cameras yet... They will eventually but not now... We will see things we won't believe ahead of us... Just be patient and enjoy evolution step by step... This is the only way it can work...;)

Their having a giraffe, a camera, mp3 player etc and its a size of a credit card, no phone is a size of a credit card!!!

I am trying to compare it with the stereo sound of other phones. I have my 3650 and I admit its mono sound sucks. Even my previous 6100 and 7210 has better sounds, even better loudspeaker.

With regards to P800, sure it lacks something but take out the third party software written for 7650/3650 and you will see which has less features.
