Anyone know a good program to use to make your own .ccf files for total ir remote. I have not had too much luck with the ones found here http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files/rcfiles.cgi?area=pronto&db=devices&br=&fc=

Thats my whole point. If we can figure out how to configure the .ccf files, then I'm positive we can get it to work on things like wireless entry into a car or house alarm.

they way the learn funtion works on the cars wot u need to do is RECORD the signal using your watch. so wen the alarm is pressed the watch has to pick up the signal and record it in its memory. thats the way it worked. i never done this illegally only on my godmothers brand new mercedes e class but rememba not 2 do this illegally

So, to all of those out there who care. I bring this info to you after several hours of searching. I have found the way to create your own custom .ccf files, but with bad news... Either you have to have a very expensive remote called a pronto or an IPAQ equiped with PDAWIN software. See:

http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-pda/thread.cgi?566
and
http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-pda/thread.cgi?565

I will try out the car thing and let you all know how it works!!!

Sirwoggle, I asked the same thing in one of the remote cental forums, but apparently there is no software out there for a pc that can learn. see http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-custom/thread.cgi?1529

So we are all stupid about the car alarm thing. I forgot that car alarms and house alarms work off of a radio signal and not IR. Unless a car alarm is IR it wont work. I do not think that the 3650/7650 have the necessary hardware to send out a radio signal like alarms have.

I did want to report that I successfully created my own custom .ccf file using my IPAQ and it works like a charm. It's only days untill I have my entire home theater on my 3650!!! Now if we could only do something about the short range.

How do you get Total IR Remote to open your ccf files? Won't do it for me :(

Here is what I have found. A lot of the .ccf files found on remote central's website were designed for pronto devices (sophisticated remotes) and they have macros and multiple layers called frames. This is why a lot of those files wont work on our phones (beleive me I had the same problem, thats why I turned to custom .ccf) I used a program called pronto edit http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files/rcfiles.cgi?area=pronto&db=other&br=programs&dv=philipsprontoseries&fc=
and got rid of all of those frames so that I was as simple as possible. I then renamed the buttons to something I would later recognize when the total remote imported the .ccf to the phone.

Sorry man. Do what I do. Just leave your computer on and downloading while you sleep. 13mb should only take about 1hr on a 56k modem.

What is it exactly that says unknown file type? Your pc or phone. Look on psiloc.com under total remote for instructions.

maronco and bossworld make sure that you have Total Remote 1.01, which is the latest version. The regular ir remote will not work.

Yes it is total remote

I open the file using Fexplorer and I get the error "unknown file type"

I've also tried it from email, got the same result.

If I use infrared is it likey to work?

On psiloc's site they say:

If your equipment does not work (or is not listed) you can "learn" Total irRemote!

Tip: large databases of codes compatible with Total irRemote can be found here: Philips Pronto CCF codes and here: Lirc database

Mybe г should use this ones instead?

Got it working, uninstalled and reinstalled

But.. does anyone have a working sky digital CCF. All the remotes are the same, all teh same functionality etc. But, ir-remote has 2 versions, neither of which work.

So, does anyone have a CCF that'll let me control a UK Sky Digibox?
