This program supposedly protects your text messages from being read by other people by providing a security like a password.

Well nice to see 6 months of hard work go down the toilet

A lot of effort went into this product. We didn't expect to become rich, far from it, but we hoped that people would at least buy the product.

We produced it, because we thought that is what people wanted. Obviously they do, they just don't want to pay for it. So help me here, what is a price people will pay for someones hard work? If they didn't like it,after they bought it, we would not have a problem to give them a refund. After all, if they are happy with the product or the service, they might use us again.

We were working on other exciting products, but I don't know if we'll carry them through now. There doesn't seem to be much point.

I would however, like to see our product removed from your list of stolen and pirated software. That list represents a lot of peoples hard work and dreams. A lot of people whose products have been stolen, are small developers or students, it is not fair on them either.

Alpha , Fortress does not "supposedly" protect sms messages with a very high level of encryption, it absolutely protects them.

I don't know which one I more angry about. Stealing cheap and well programmed software, because it makes you "look good" . Or stealing software, and not even bothering to feedback to the people who built it, as to how you found it to use, what could be done to improve it, or even, what price you'd be willing to pay to own something, that a programmer put hard work into, as opposed to stealing it, like a common thief.

The software can be bought via Handango, or from us at www.fortressmail.net

tsk tsk tsk... I for one would purchase apps/games that ARE BELOW $5.00... your concept is really good! the encryption thingie WORKS! but you should probably target networks for this and not end-users... networks could install your software on their units... that it be bundled. I for one was excited to use your app... then all of a sudden, it struck me... how would I now if the sms recipient has sms fortress installed on their unit... and how would I even know if they are currently using a symbian fon... catch my drift guys? I could send my friend an encrypted message... but would he/she be able to read/understand it if he/she is not using a symbian fon w/ sms fortress installed on it?

ur app works great. it does its job well... but you should have thought of its market first... try it on a test market... see how the public reacts to it... I for one USE warez and keygens BUT I ALSO DO PURCHASE apps/games that I find usefull... and there are a lot of guys out there like me who wouldnt mind to shell out some dough for useful stuff... but also remember to attach a price tag that is quite REASONABLE. Lets say I am willing to shell out that amount for this app, but my friend who is sort of short in cash cant shell that amount out... and he is the only person I know who uses a symbian fon... then where does my money go? down the drain!

you guys should have tried to release first a trialware/shareware... You guys are excellent coders/creaters/programers/developers... your app works great... but am sorry that it had to end this way.:( foresight and a back-up plan should/would have been very appropriate:(

We did release a trialware version
http://www.fortressmail.net/setuptrial.exe

The "cracked" copy is the retail version

It's interesting, because it's a straight copy of the retail version, which WASN'T protected, mainly for the reason you mentioned.CorePDA have ADDED their own file to the software, fcuk knows what it does. All they did was copy our software, and add their own file, which they insist you use to install the product. So what is that? A virus? A demon dialler? A premium SMS sender?

We figured, that the price point, would cover the 2/3/4 copies that would be made, as people passed it on to their friends to enable them to use the system. People do club together and buy software to copy it, but in this case, they just straight pirated it. So if they haven't got the money to pay for it, how the hell do they afford a £250.00 phone?

We did have foresight, I come from the games industry, and I know how quickly things get phreaked. We knew it was bound to get pirated, the market isn't flooded with 7650/3650 software.

But we did at least expect some feednback, not just straight parasitical leeching. Still, if you get something for nothing, what is the point in paying?

We do have other products in development, one of which has never been done, and will certainly save the user money, but right now, we are carefully thinking if we are going to bother, or just concentrate on the PC. There isn't much point, when the software gets pirated. I don't think if we pitchd it at 4.99 , it would make much difference. how many people would have bought it, if it was?

The back up plan? Everyone pirates it all to hell, gets the user base up to a phenonenal rate, sends an e-mail to our site to say "Using it, it's great", gives us some ideas and suggestions, and CONTRIBUTES. Roight now, as you can imagine, we are feeling so low, that at least some user feedback would be bloody appreciated, as opposed to just taking it. It feels like rape

So contribute some feedback to our site, no we're not going to prosecute if you have pirated it, but we want to know how to make it better. We also need to know enough people feel positively about what we do.
