Hi,

Does the 128Mb MMC card work with the Nokia 3650? I'm getting the 128Mb MMC from infineon for 39$ or so.

Thanks
Gaurav

if I'm not mistaken.. It's the Infineon/Hitachi, correct?

If so... I have it currently operating in my 3650.. no probs for 3 days so far. ;)

all the best,
Gail

Hi there,

4 me there were only problems with it. I've owned a Sandisk and 2 other lesser ones, but all of them gave me a shitty workability. Constantly errors like: system errors, memory full, AppArcUserThread, etc. etc.
But since my Firmware was updated, i've got lesser problems.
Nokia service point in Holland told me that the 128 MB wasn't valid 4 use with the 3650. They told me that it wouldn't be taken within' the warranty rules of repairment (sorry 4 mine english).
I hope you have better luck than me !

Kind regards

Roland

Hi,
yes, Nokia itself says, it doesent work, but this is clear: They cannot deliver an own 128 MB card. And the Nokia 64 MB has a "Moon price" - no normal human buy this.

I know from many german forums, that all 128 MB MMC cards work properly at the 3650 - if its operating system is ok.

Only some cards of the brand "Hama" make problems.

Final note: For 256 MB cards is a firmware higher as 3.x a must.

128 mb mmc's work on the 3650. I've been using mine for quite some time now and I haven't encountered any problems yet. I'm just not quite sure if all mmc brands are compatible with the Nokia 3650. I suggest you get an mmc from a reputable store (even if it's a little more expensive), get one that has warranty, test it first in the store before you purchase it, put it in the phone and format it using your 3650.

I am using Apacer (a well-known memory module maker) 128MB MMC and it works fine. You can go for it if it is available at your place.

I saw that brand in one of the computer shops in SM, is the Flash card and the MMC just one and the same?

@ alpha925,

if I understand your question right:

Flash cards are all cards. It is a main group. But the single names are:

CF = compact Flash
MMC = Multi Media Card
SD= Secure card

and so on (it exists 3 other types additional).

And only with the SPV phone you can use SD and MMC cards - all other phones, e.g. 3650. can only use the MMC cards.

Hi,

I bought the infineon 128Mb MMC card and it is working perfectly with my 3650.

By the way, I bought it for 37$ (including tax and shipping) from Knowledge Micro Inc. (based in San Jose, CA, USA) and received it in 2 days (since I live in bay area too).

Thanks a lot, guys. Appreciate your time and help.

I too have a working 128mb mmc. Kinda weird though, came in a PQI package, says Hitachi on the card.

open the extras folder and click on the memory icon, under options choose format mem. card, you will be prompted if you want to reformat the card, just select yes, the format process should start. Take note that all data conatined in the mmc will be deleted. If have trouble formatting the mmc with your phone try to reformat the card using another mmc capable device such as a digital camera or mmc reader.

The TwinMOS works on 64MB but its 128MB version sucks. Take the list of brands from this thread, and add NPC by Hexon or Muse to the list as well of workables.

By the way, on the question of Flash Cards,
SD = MMC + security

Be careful when buying MMCs because they have the same shape of SD cards, and these won't work currently on Nokias.

On the other hand MMCs will work fine on SD-native gadgets but will have some functionality cut down, like simultaneous audio for some digi/video cams, etc.

Got my 3650 last week and was about to order card an reader today, then I saw this thread! Does anyone have a dead cert of a card that will work?(either 64 or 128mb) Most of the ones I have been offered have been unbranded and I'm keen not to make a mistake.

www.ebuyer.com get the PQI 128MB

I bought a jenoptik 4-1 reader for £20 from my local PC World store

Does anyone else only get about 122mb after formatting?

Yup, I get something like 122mb's also after reformatting, which is normal, even when you format hard drives and floppy disks you lose some memory space.

You still have to format the mmc using your phone, formatting the mmc with your phone creates the neccessary folders (video folder, picture folder, sound folder, ect...) to store your files. To format your mmc using your phone, in the main menu, open the extras folder, click on the memory icon (the icon looks like an mmc), select options, under options choose format mem. card, the format process will begin, just wait for the process to finish (it takes a while to format the card, specially a 128mb mmc).

Nokia 3650 V 2.50 128MB Integral MMC.
The card I bought was the cheapest I could find about £20.
I formatted it. At first the phone wouldnt save messages to the MMC. I tried then to move an image from phone > card ..it worked and then the messages! The system application warnings have stopped to! It seams that you have to persevere a bit!
