wat is a .rar file??? wat does it stand for??

hi,

rar is another compression format like the zip. You can download winrar from download.com and use it for uncompressing the file. It is a shareware software.

Well, once you can uncompressed the .rar file, you should get your applications or whatever is contained in the .rar file.

If it is a .sis or .jar then you can install it on your phone else just copy it. All depends on what is inside the .rar file

u mean i must get winrar first before i can do anything with the file.... am i right

yes that's right, you have to get winrar first and install it on your computer so that you can decompress the compressed rar file. After decompressing the file you should be able to see the content file (.sis, .jar, or .jad). If it's a .sis file, just conect your phone to your pc or laptop via Ir or Bt, then install the .sis file. If it's a .jar or .jad files, simply right click the file and choose send to infrared recipient, that will send the file to your phone, you will recieve the .jar or .jad file as a text message, open the text message and you will be prompted if you wish to install the application, just choose install. By the way, in most cases (specially for games), the file will be located in the applications folder, just click on the applications icon. For the 7650, I think it's located in the tools folder. For the 3650, it's located in the main menu.

Winrar is also a popular compression software, although I agree with you that it's not as popular as winzip. The good thing is that they're both free (the evaluation copy anyway). I guess it's just a matter of preferrence fo the user.

.rar is getting increasingly more popupular because its compression is alot better than zip so its a good idea to get it because it will be getting more and more popular

ive been downloading files for over 5 years and winzip is rapidly becoming rare and rar is no exstremely commmon, i have tried both with winzip i got 20mb of images to 8mb with winrar i got 2omb of images to 1.2mb
