Has it been flashed?

If not:
It could be a damaged component on the pcb, any one, or a multitude of, up to around 30 different components.

Connect your phone to PC (mbus), run eeprom tools, switch on phone then click test. Search the forum based on the results especially if tests failed.

Right, i have one 8210 with blue led conversion on it

i purchased it s/hand and it came unlocked (was successfully tested with UK Genie, Vodafone and one2one/T-Mobile cards)

one day it decided to stop working! it fires up and displays the correct network name, but signal is 'no bars' When i do a manual network search it can only find one network (Orange - which i don't have access to) The phone must be unlocked tho - as it does display the T-Mobile name (as it is a t-mobile card i have now)

i have tried following the tutorial on this site - using DCt3 flasher by rolis v4.71 to update MCU and PPM (this would not work, kept asking me to turn the damned power on and no matter what i did (SIM in/SIM out, Power ON/OFF) the damned thing wouldn't work)

i gave up eventually and skipped the stage and started using NokTools v1.90 from rolis to update FAID. i have done this about 20 times to no avail. - problem as before!

i don't think there is a component problem as the phone WAS working properly, even after i had a scrren fix done on it.

if anyone could help me on this one (come on, help the newbie!!!) i'd be very grateful

oh, i've also run eeprom to check the phone but its insisting my phone is not connected - again, no matter if the sim is in or out or the power is in or out!

i'm running xp-pro so some of the programs i have to run in 98/Me compatiability mode but they don't seem to mind.

cheers

Flasher cables plug into your printer port (LPT 1)
Datacables plug into your com port (9 Pins)

When asked to power on just plug your charger in for a few seconds.

Use a newer version of Rolis, 4.78 works well for me.
You only need to update faid when the phone has been flashed.

To get eeprom tool to detect your phone, untick DTR on and make sure your phone is switched on and connected with a datacable.

To fix your signal problem try fitting a new aerial, or make sure it is making contact, you may have to wipe it clean.

If that doesnt work then try flashing new firmware with rolis 4.87 then use Use Knok95
Quickset FAID, Reset User interface settings, Reset Full Factory Settings, Reset SP Locks, Set new IMEI, Use original IMEI, Quickset faid! In that order!

Are you running UserPort drivers? You get this problem when you don't install UserPort drivers and only select Compatibility mode on program properties.
