I haven't really read up on the Nokia 7250i yet but do you think that once i't released you could flash a 7250 with the 7250i software?

the official stance from nokia is "no", but they would say that as they would want people to buy more fones. i believe the hardware is identical between the two (apart from the 7250i has a bit more memory) so i think flashing an upgrade should be possible.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect them to say that they support it as they'll expect you to buy the new phone as part of an upgrade or something for which you then get stung by your network provider.
We'll just have to see when it comes out :)

Hi guys,
You cannot flash 7250 with 7250i or vice versa. I tried it but failed. There are some major differences in ROM addresses.

Hi,
a friend of mine is Nokia technican at a nokia service point...
he tried to flash the 7250i software into a 7250 with the original nokia service tool, but he wasn't successful...
he tought that the IMEI is checked, so it wouldn't be possible...
regards Scotty :( :) :(
p.s. @hawker: 7250 and 7250i have the same memory (both 5.3MB)

does he know for sure that imei is CHECKED??? or just a rough guess? from what I heard is that they've changed the memory addressing around to prevent such flashing as hard coded memory addresses require rom decoding and alot of work to patch it to make it work for the 7250.
